You cannot hand carry any liquid / gel items such as shampoo, beverages, sun lotion, tooth paste, creams, hair styling gel, perfumes or any other kind of similar liquid. These items are to be checked-in.
The exempted items are, baby food, milk or juice (if the infant is travelling - may have to be tasted by accompanying adult) and urgently required medicines (if the name on the medicine or the prescription is equal to the name on the ticket)
Should the free baggage allowance exceed by checking in the above- mentioned items, no excess baggage charge will be collected. This regulation also applies for the above listed items if bought in Duty Free areas too.

Liquids and gels can be put in your checked luggage, but not carried on the plane by you. These days you cannot even take a bottle of water or a cup of coffee on the plane. Check with your specific airline for what is allowed and not allowed. It can change from one day to the next depending on the level of alert they are on.

You cannot bring any liquids or gels in your carry-on luggage. There are some exceptions, though. You can find the list of what is/isn't allowed at:
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm . If you're in doubt about anything, put it in your checked luggage. Don't try to sneak anything by the screeners. Just don't.

Yes, you can put all that stuff into the luggage that you check in. No liquids are allowed on board on your person or in hand luggage.
I juist got back last week from the UK so I know this the hard way!

It's a mess right now. But basically as long as they are in chekce luggage you're cool. Rules are different at each airport and depending what airline you are flying ad to where as far as carry-on.

You can check you liquids, but be sure to put them in sealed plastic bags to avoid leaks.
No liquids on the plane. Check with your airline for other restrictions; they seem to be changing daily.

No liquids, those can be used to make explosives, or can be acidic or something like that.
