This ALWAYS happens to me. So I figure I'll stay up and get some stuff done, what's the point of laying in bed tossing and turning, right? But then I finally get sleepy around 6 or 7 in the morning and NOTHING can reason with me to stay up to do whatever I need to do in the morning. A hurricane could be blowing my house down, and I would be so tired that all I would care about would be catching some ZZZs. I've been like this for years. I've got an Ambien prescription (sleep aid), but I'm trying not to depend on it.

Maybe one of you could give me some pleasant, relaxing thoughts to ponder or sing me a li'l lullaby? LOL

You could have been going to bed too late.

People who go to bed too late and find themselves wide awake till wee hours in the morning usually have a weaker liver and kidney constituition.

There are a few things you can do. Firstly is to drink mre good quality water and try to sleep earlier!

10PM is a good time since your kidneys and liver start their detoxificiation from 11-2am only if you are in deep slumber.

But you must first decide to set your priorities THINK that sleep and health is more important than getting stuff done.

To get ready to go to bed.. simply tell your brain that you are going to bed and that he should shut himself down. If you are still thinking of undone stuff.. write it down on a piece of paper and tell your brain that you will settle them tommorrow..

Then close your eyes and imagine that parts of your body are relaxing and going into deep sleep..from the top of your head.. all the way to your toes..

Try it.. :)

PS: YOu can play some soft music in the background if you want.

If you're drinking beverages with caffeine in them, stop.
Your Circadien rhthym is off (that is the natural sleeping and waking rhthym we all have within us, like mother nature's alarm clock)
Try this experiment:
I suggest you go camping in a tent for at least 4 nights, somewhere rustic. Bring a friend, but don't stay up drinking all night, just relax and enjoy being outside. Go in the tent around midnight. Relax, don't do anything, there is nothing for you to do because you're in a tent. Lay down. Even if you have a crappy night, that is fine, because you will not be able to sleep at 7am when crows are squawking and the cold morning air hits your face and the sunshine is just pouring through your tent flaps. Go out and enjoy the morning...and the rest of the day...And at night, go to bed at midnight again...see if you're a bit more tired, and get up at 7 again...I will guarantee that you will not be able to maintain your current sleep schedule, and you will have one that is more "normal" I suppose.
You don't need Ambien, you just need to get yourself back on a schedule of sleep. I'm with you...I do the same thing too.

When that happens to me I take 2 tylenol pm's and make myself wake up at the right time the next morning.

You'll probably feel tired and crappy the next day, but you'll be tired and go to sleep normally the next night. The tylenol sleep aids will help you get to sleep at a near acceptable hour the first night.

sorry about your problem... it's tough when you can't sleep. before bed, never use the computer or try to concentrate on work. they say tv's bad too, because the bright light keeps you awake like the computer does. do something really relaxing, like reading a book. but not a thriller or anything. pick something really boring, as unfun as that sounds.

I'm a night person altogether. Playing music is perfect for me. I like to sleep all day and play late. Unfortunately, we are forced to adjust to the rest of the world's schedule. With an attitude like mine, you don't want MY advice!

you know what really works for me? a lavender scented spray. it's so relaxing- i always use it when i'm really wound up and can't go to sleep. good for you for not wanting to be dependent on the meds.
