Both tend to be leftist causes and the premise for abortion is that fetuses aren't human and so don't have rights. The argument that fetuses aren't sentient is moot when you consider that many vegans won't even use products made from insects who don't suffer like chickens in a factory farm. Also veganism stems from superstitious beliefs in some religions that eating meat makes you spiritually and morally impure, so there goes the argument that opposing abortion is based on superstition.

As for the rape argument, it's like saying murder should be allowed in all cases because in a few cases the defendant was insane. I'm only talking about the norm, not the exceptions to the rule.

To brainstorm, eating meat is a natural process since animals do it too. Plus, how can an insect egg be considered a separate entity if a fetus isn't. Being a vegan would also have been impracticle without modern dietary information because many important amino acids come from meat, so they have to make it up.

No, it is not a contradiction...It is merely a matter of choice......

Yes, this would be an absolute contradiction.
I have know some vegetarians, and at least one vegan. A true vegan won't even drink milk, or eat eggs, or eat honey, or step on an insect, for it either robs another living creature of it's products or life or both. To destroy life in any way is a forbidden concept. I have known some vegetarians who won't use antibiotics, or anti-microbial soap, because the microbes are a natural part of their ecosystem and "deserve" to live!
To live as a vegan, with ultimate respect and compassion for even the smallest microbe and insect, and to yet support abortion, would be the ultimate contradiction. Life is being interrupted. Vegans know the difference between reproduction and cancer.

True. Abortion supporters usually insist that an embryo/fetus isn't a human being / person yet. If they're vegans, this must mean a fetal cow or pig isn't an actual cow or pig yet. I guess they "choose" not to eat "potential" beef and/or pork.
Just wanted make a point regarding Brainstorm's comment that "Abortions can occur spontaneously and are a natural physical phenomenon in these cases." There are cases of natural death throughout human development. The flaw lies in determining that natural death through spontaneous abortion somehow justifies unnatural death through induced abortion. An equivalent to this argument would be that some 30 (insert any age) year old human beings die natural deaths, so it's acceptable to induce unnatural death in 30 year old human beings.

There are several holes in your argument.
Especially the assumption that veganism has a religious basis rather than being based on health and the respect for other species.
Abortions can occur spontaneously and are a natural physical phenomenon in these cases.
When they occur early in pregnancy they are not treated as a human death and the law does not consider the fetus in these circumstances the be a separate human entity.
This is the basis for artificial abortion and within certain time limits and for closely defined reasons in should be available.

a million. it relatively is a thoroughly diverse subject. 2. it relatively is no longer the unborn poultry that keeps a vegan from ingesting and egg. Egg bought in shops at the instant are not fertilized they weren't in any respect going to be returned chickens. it relatively is the therapy of the hens that keeps maximum vegans from ingesting eggs. absolute contradiction. you can kill ppl before they are born, but you can't kill a chicken that has lived an almost full life? i don't think so. I personally am a vegitarian (no meat, fish, nothing), and completly against abortion. ppl who say that abortion is right, but also choose to be vegan/vegitarian and hypocrites, and i know that to themselves they justify it, but if you have a heart, or a head, it doesn't work. think about it, a person (or would be person) is okay to kill (or never let be born) but you can't kill animals? i agree, lets not kill animals, but lets start with the more important things, babys. lets not kill them. if you have any comments, please email me, i'm totally interested in ppls opinions. - ashleyh-l@hotmail.com

Actually, fetuses may be capable of feeling pain by the 7th week after conception and almost certainly by the 11th week. See:

Not in my opinion... being vegan can't screw up your life. Being pregnant, from say a RAPE, can.
