It is healthy. The human body (as well as the mind) may need this release from the pressures which are bottled up inside you. Crying is sometimes the only way to cope with trying situations. Without it, you court health problems as well as possible trauma to your psyche.

It depends on the kind of crying you're doing. If you sob deeply for long periods it can been very draining and you feel exhausted (this is the kind of crying one does when there's been a death of someone very close to you) and yes, you'd feel horrible the next day. Crying for no apparent reason (it's a sad movie and everybody has a tear in their eye but you're crying like your leg is broken) could be a sign of unresolved issues or fears in your life. Crying when you see someone for the first time, in a very long while, can help to release pent up emotions or anxieties and that's good for you.

It is healthy in a few ways. First, the tears wash out your eyes in a natural way and keep them clean. Also, when you cry, it usually means that something is hurting in your heart. Crying is a way to express that and get it out of you, and it will make you feel better in the long run that you haven't kept it bottled up inside of you. Even if you still hurt inside, (physical or mental), the tears have helped to wash out some of those feelings.

It depends. If you are in grief over the loss of a loved one, it is better to cry and let your emotions out (of course you have to maintain control and composure at the same time). It is healthy. But crying just to seek the sympathy of others and crying over trivial matters is definitely wrong and not healthy.

Depends what you are crying about BUT it is a great stress reliever.
Crying through depression is ok only for a few weeks or a few months at most. But crying constantly for no reason means to need serious help!

I think crying is healthy not only for our physical health but also for our psychological and emotional health. Crying releases extra toxins in our body (explains its taste!) through the tear lobes in our eyes. Therefore, it cleans our body. But crying also releases emotional stress, so crying is therefore healthy.

well if it is I must be really healthy today (my dog died).
P.S. A newborn doesnt have to cry to be healthy, it's actually a sign of a baby showing distress and shock of entering its new environment- doctors just like to give parents that line to make them feel better :-)

Mentally it is very healthy to cry...it's the only real way to show the outward world our real emotion, whether it be happy, sad, or angry tears. Having said that, it's good to let your emotions be free sometimes so that you can empty out the emotional baggage that you might be carrying with you. Physically, I am not really sure if it's good for you, although I am sure it's not bad!
