Add natural oils like avocado, coconut, jojoba or olive oil to your hair. This can be a great conditioning regime to do prior to shampooing the hair.
Place any of the above mentioned oils into the hair and place the hair in a bun for about 20 minutes. You can even wrap your hair under a plastic cap covered by a heat cap for added conditioning. You'll find that your hair will be more revived and manageable.
I use a slightly damp towel and put it in the dryer, and get it nice and hot, and wrap it around my head turban style, then when it cools it is easy to re-heat.
the heat from the towel will cause the cuticle to open up, and the oil will absorb more.
After, wash your with a really good shampoo, I really like Pantene Restoratives, They really help dry straw-like hair feel good again.
I use it and I have had my hair colored, then permed, then straightened, then colored again..... and it still makes my hair feel like silk when I rinse out the conditioner.
If you feel like you need to cut it, don't do anything drastic, cut it an inch or 2 at a time.
Try the oils I listed above, I really like olive oil, not virgin, and coconut oil together, it works well. Also, I don't like the smell of olive oil, so I add lavender essential oil, just a drop or 2, you don't want it to strong...... though it is not necessary, just a luxury.!
hope I have helped

OH I would suggest not coloring your hair AT ALL for a while..... and the oils I listed.... will work better than any hot oil treatment you will find at the drug store.
Do it 2 times per week, until your hair feels normal, then once a month after, until your hair is grown out. get regular trims as well ( if you decide not to cut...)
Good Luck Babe :)

You have over processed hair.
Deep condition. You need some Super Charge conditioner by Paul Mitchell. If your salon does not carry this go to a beauty supply store such as Sally's, they usually carry a generic Paul Mitchell line.
Shampoo and apply conditioner heavy, comb thru with a wide tooth comb, wrap with a hot wet towel, leave up for 10 minutes. I would do this daily for the next 3 days then every 3 days after.
Do not brush your hair when it is wet, use a pick, start at the ends and work your way up, once your hair is dry you can use a brush, but I suggest a vent brush only.

I did the same thing! Literally! I went from blond to jet black (was going for dark brown) and then added Blond highlights which I hated so I died it black again! Then had to bleach it because of being in a wedding, but that made me have ORANGE hair! Finally used a nice caramel and got the best color, and I did all of this in the space of two and a half weeks! Never try that at home!! So my hair was really in need of some TLC, and if I remember right I just used extra conditioner from my coloring kits especially the bleach kit which had a really good conditioner and then because I was scared that I had damaged my hair I just made sure to use extra of my reg. conditioner whenever I washed my hair and it has recovered nicely. This all happened last October and I would say that about a month and half after my hair was fine. Hope this helps and good luck. ~ :)

There are some good conditioners available: Clairol's Condition, and Neutrogena makes a good one in a jar: after shampooing once, gently, put a good sized bit (about 2 Tablespoons) in your hair and massage it in all over. Leave it for a good 20 minutes and then gently rinse it out with warm water; finally switching to cool for the last minute or so. You will have to do this once a week for awhile; and then when you next get a haircut, some of the damage will be gone. If you colour your hair, you should use one regularly though.

Shampoo, then condition. Proper shampooing is the first step to a healthy scalp and manageable hair, but don't use a conditioning shampoo. Two-in-one products that combine shampoo and conditioner really can't do a good job of either cleansing or conditioning. After all, how can a product effectively remove and add substances at the same time?
Instead, use a gentle shampoo to cleanse, then follow with a conditioner specifically geared for dry hair every time you shampoo. Don't worry about shampooing too often. Today's gentle shampoos are designed for frequent use.
Deep-condition regularly. To fill nicks and chips in the hair's damaged outer layer and restore shine, deep-condition. Depending on the condition of your hair, once a week or once every few weeks is all that is needed. Consisting of various combinations of natural and synthetic ingredients (including proteins, polymers or other additives), deep conditioners don't "feed" your hair; they just fill in defects and coat the hair shaft, resulting in a smooth, flat surface that will reflect light and restore shine to your hair.
For maximum effectiveness apply a deep conditioner before you shampoo. Gently work the conditioner into your hair with your fingertips and allow it to be absorbed for a few minutes. Then shampoo and follow with your regular conditioner.
Pat your hair dry. Hair dryers and blowers--and even vigorous towel-drying--can rough up the outer layer of hair cells. So whenever possible, pat or gently squeeze your hair dry with a towel and avoid rough handling.
Use thermal styling conditioners. If you must blow-dry your hair, spray it with a thermal conditioner such as HeatSafe before you plug in your dryer. HeatSafe combines four different types of moisturizers designed to both treat and prevent dry hair.
Protect your tresses. To prevent the sun from drying your hair or exacerbating hair that's already dry, mist your hair with a sunscreen made for hair before you hit the beach or head for the pool. Or wear a hat whenever you're out in the sun.
Good luck. :)

RE:
Bleached Hair feels dry, like straw?
About a month ago, I dyed my hair black and it looked awful. I got some lighter highlites, but they didn't help too much. Yesterday, I went to a salon, and the stylist bleached my hair. My hair color looks great, but my hair feels dry and like straw. It's all tangly, and it takes forever to...

Your poor hair has been through alot! You should try a hot oil treatment. You can buy them at any store with hair products. You could also go back to the salon where they can put a hot oil treatment on your hair. The one that you buy at the store will come with a tube of of stuff that you just stick in a glass of HOT water for about a minute or two, then you leave on your hair for given time, then rinse. It's real simple and your hair should be shiny, soft and more manageable.

Let me tell you this is really the best hair product ever invented. My hair has grown so fast and long so quickly. Try it I know you will like it.
I like to leave the conditioner in all day and just wear my hair swept up or back nicely. Then when I wash the next day recondition but is so soft and managable. I recently gave some of the Vanilla Bean conditioner to a girl with your problem and her hair transformed by the next time I saw her in a matter of a few days. Just leave it in and you will be amazed. The shampoo is like yeast in bread. It doesn't even feel like shampoo and you feel the difference immediately, especially when you rinse. I always wash and rinse in cool water and my hair is always shiny and smell so wonderful all the time.

Adding color instead of removing it gives the hair "fill" which makes it healthier, smoother and softer. So get some darker hair color. Or if you like it light go for some really good conditioner, leave it on 3 to 5 minutes that lets your hair get a good drink. Use the deep cond. once a week, reg. cond every day, and limit hairspray and heat.
