Windows Media Player does NOT play DVDs, despite what jfloresbcs said. It only plays them if you have DVD software installed (which comes with an MPEG-2 codec that WMP can use).

I suggest you get the KMPlayer at:

I have PowerDVD already, but I have used this free player on other PCs. It's packed with a lot of features for being free.

Download VideoLAN at the below link. It's a very good, and totallly free open-source player for DVD's among other video formats. Good luck.

u cannot simply play a DVD file without installing a third party dvd codec... So juz install codec like cole2k.... u can get it for free of cost...

Of course not. That's why they are called "trial versions." I have had them. When my time was up, usually 30 or 60 days, I either removed them (through add/remove) or bought it.
