I have a 14 year old son who has already been in trouble with the law and has been placed outside of the home but still insists on defying me on everything even the smallest things like when i ask him to get in the shower. any advice on what i can do?

Definitelty send his butt to boot camp. Works wonders.

This might sound shocking but if he refuses to do anything or gets in trouble with the law, get him in jail for the maximum term and if he tries to get you in trouble with the Department of Social Services, tell the office to take him away.
Do not allow him back until he agrees on video in front of a social worker or a juvenile judge to go by all the rules you set down. It might be too late because of his age, but what ever you do, do not enable him in any way.
Also, get him a male role model to emulate. A boy without a father figure is more likely to drop out of high school than graduate college. He is more likely to be on probation, on drugs, get a girl pregnant and not support his children, commit a violent crime of be a victim of one, join a gang and many more problems.

He's just in that rebellion phase... I was there a few years ago (though I still have my moments)... but he'll straighten out on his own, all kids that age act that way and that's just how it's been since the dawn of time. There's a lot of changes going on in his world, so just bear with him as his attitude goes along!

i was considered before a problem child. I did some of the worse kinds of crazy things when I was a kid like almost killing my younger brother, and destroying the ear drum of my brother. My mom brough me to a phsychologist and the doctor said to call me goodie, and treat me as if I'm a good boy. You should give more attention to your son, such as spending time with him and giving him a lot of compliments that he will not normally hear from other people. Instead of calling him naughty, call him goodie. It worked for me... as what my mom said to me.

Place a padlock into an average sock. Then beat the living Christ out of him until his eyes turn to jelly. It's either that or like the bastard on fire. Either way....you need to assert dominance over him in a brutally aggressive manner.

well im no mom, but i would bust his butt, no son of mine would act like that, and plus he needs to be thought a lesson think of something that will scare him lock him up that always work
the best part is that he is 14 and will be scared easliy and maybe want act that way nomore,

Military school would probably do him some good. He needs to learn authority and that is the best place to do so. I know it would be hard on you but it may be the best chance he has.

if you have a friend that has a hot daughter or is hot themselfs ask them to come over and pretend shes kind of into him then after a couple of minuets have her say eww something stinks in here and have her walk away that might work
