In Poland there were two major groups of people...peasants and the educated. Peasants never had family crests. That is something only the very rich did...such as royalty. There are actually very few lines in Poland that have family crests. Chances are very high you are not a descendant of one of those lines. I did quite a bit of research on this when I prepared and worked on my family's geneology. (Who are Polish as well) You could find a translator and write to the Center of Archives in Krakow for them to check...but seriously...it's pretty pointless. I think there are less than 30 family crests in all of Poland.

There's also Swyrich.com, but J Somethingo is right. Poland is notorious for very few coats of arms, which are NEVER called crests, because the crest is the object that sits on a helmet or crown on top of the shield. You MAY have arms, but don't get your hopes up. Designsofwonder.com is another place to check, but they normally specialize in English, French and German arms, because those are the most common.

If your family immigrated to Poland from, say, Russia or Germany, it's nill that you're gonna get, cause nobles don't "immigrate," and only nobles had arms, especially in the Germanic region.

You want a coat of arms? Did you know that you can still, today, design your own? If it's different enough from all others, you can submit it to one of the College of Arms and have them approve it, officially, as YOUR coat of arms. For a price, of course, but still, a coat YOU design. Pretty cool! But historically, with Polish you're probably out of luck.

What's your surname, anyway? I can look it up for you. I'm a junior armourist, after all. I should think I should be able to at least determine if there is one, or I'm not worth my pens!

You have to apply for a family crest. But remember a crest is does not mean that you are a member of the nobility.
