I agree with other posters that it is the nature of monotheism. Monotheists believe in only one god and reject other gods; therefore, religions that profess belief in multiple gods like Hinduism and Shinto are anathema to monotheists.
Then there are those Christians, Muslims, and Jews who believe that theirs is the only true path to enlightenment and salvation.

I suppose defining "Religions" may help you understand the Christians’ point of view.
Christianity is not a religion...see, a religion is the belief that one could get to heaven or reach a goal by their own works and the way they treat others...bettering themselves. But if such were possible in the eyes of God, then Jesus never would've had to come.
Christianity, on the other hand, is not about what WE can DO, but about WHAT JESUS HAS ALREADY DONE. Therefore, it's not a religion...it's a relationship...with God, through Jesus.
If people want to try to better themselves or reach enlightenment by practicing religions, well, I'll agree w/ your Muslim friend in being concerned for you, but that's another question to answer. Either way, enlightenment is a worldly pleasure, and so is bettering yourself, BY yourself...and it won't get you to Heaven. Plus, if you could do it by yourself, then you could brag or boast, and God’s not about that...for it's only by God's GRACE that we are even ABLE to approach God. So the only TRUE way to better yourself is to let God's Holy Spirit do it FOR you, from the inside-out.
So to answer your question, we Christians don't think "other" religions are false, we think they're dangerous (because they lead you away from God) and pointless. For Christ is the only way to Heaven...everything else is just a "religion".

Because its religion. How can christians believe that god only created the heavens and earth and believe the same time another religion is right and your enter soul created it. Its like believing the earth is round, but possibly flat too. Doesnt make since. You can tolerate others but dont have to believe they are right. Just by saying oh you worship idols doesnt mean they are not tolerating you. If they beated you up or changed laws to have you locked up thats not tolerance. I believe stoping friendships can be tolerant too so long as they didnt bad mouth you.

The Muslims you spoke to believe that all other religions are false. There are muslims who believe that God alone is the true judge and whether or not people of other faiths are worshipping false idols is not a matter for them to decide. I suspect the same is true for Christians, and Jews, and others as well.

Most religions teach respect and tolerance. The three you named follow closely in the first few books of their religion.
God by any other name is still God. Most are becoming aware
of such similarities. There has been an awakening.

Why? Because how can all religions be equally right when one religion teaches that there is Only 1 God while another teaches that there are numerous gods & goddesses?
And then we have atheists who say there is absolutely no God at all!!
However, should we be pushing our own religious views on others, or should we agree to disagree?

It's your cousin's belief. Not yours. You're free to worship as you see fit. If they don't like it, tell them to pack sand.
I agree with your last point about Buddhism. It's a fine religion, and if it works for you, that's all that matters.
Two things should never be discussed with family and friends: Religion and politics.

You're not thinking this through. If different religions make conflicting statements about such thing as life after death, heaven, hell, etc., they can't all be correct.
If you believe Jesus is the only way to God...which the bible states, you won't believe any other way is. That doesn't mean I cut people off when they are telling me their beliefs. It does mean I believe without Jesus, no one will enter the kingdom of God.

Because they are mutually exclusive. One says that the other is false. They all point toward evidence that the other is false. I, for one, am a Christian and believes that the Muslims (Moslems), Budhists, Wickans, etc, are all idol worshipers and are doomed to hell. The Jews, well they just don't realize that their Massiah has allready come and until they make that realization, they are also doomed to hell.
