before my son started school, i was able to commute to work. i would park & ride - so i drove my car to the bus & took the bus into town. i live near phoenix & the expressways going into phoenix are HORRIBLE. it's a parking lot going in and out of the city. i chose to ride the bus in because i could read or play suduko rather then sit in traffic burning up gas. now that my son is in school, i need to drive because i need to pick him up. i loved taking the bus everyday & not worrying about traffic snarls, but i'm glad to spend more time with my son now.

I take cabs...they let me cram a little work on my laptop during trips. They also save time since I don't have to look for parking. I also try to avoid road rage because I hate dealing with stupid drivers around me.

I keep my car for driving around at night when traffic's not so bad and for going out of town on weekends with friends.

Sometimes, I'll a bus or the MRT if it'll save time. I'm more about being punctual than arriving in a nice ride.

Last week, I started telecommuting which means I no longer even have a reason to commute to get to work.

Beside the obvious gas price hikes, it's easier for me to get to work on public transit because the traffic is horrid. It's 30 minutes by transit and 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes depending on traffic to get from work to home and worse on Friday night. Also parking costs are out of this world downtown so it costs less for a monthly bus pass than I would pay for parking. Transit is the way to go and I can read while I travel.

I hate the bus. I go to the bus stop and there's nothing there to tell me when the next bus is coming and where it is going. The drivers are rude. They won't give you change. I have to guess when the bus is approaching its destination. The seats are uncomfortable. The drivers tailgate and slam on the brakes every time traffic slows down. The buses to and from work are all way too early.

So I only ride the bus when I have no other choice, like when my car is in the shop.

I did for a while (now I car pool with a co-worker). Why? I'm an environmentalist. I like being able to listen to my Ipod or read a book on the bus to work. No stress. It takes a little longer, but only about 10 minutes. Plus its cheaper than buying gas.

If public transit to my job was more convenient, I'd take it all the time. I'm an urban kid and I hate being stuck on the road with idiot drivers and having to watch out for them. My parents have cars, but take public transit to work, so they're laughing all the way to the gas pump.

chop up the version and do Philly CarShare. (it truly is supposedly the most important interior the country, even if i might want to be incorrect about that.) Parking might want to be puzzling searching on the position you're going to yet not inevitably, and there is continually garages for the very middle downtown (and they are less than NYC). Your inn may have loose parking if it truly is close to the airport, even if you're an effective 20-1/2-hour from the downtown. yet public shipping in Philly is type of crappy, and there are not that many cabs, except for thirtieth St. station.

yes, because it is slow, expensive (more the gas), i can meet lots of rude people, and since it doesn't go where i need to go when i need to go i get walk for miles and be late to every appointment.
