if you are already paying child support then no dont give it to her. The child support is exactly what it is for you kids needs. Im sure there is more than enough money from child support to buy them clothes. and as far as your taxes why not you can only claim 2 kids on your taxes that is all they give you credit for

You will have to excuse me if I sound like a itch add a b on this but even if you do not give her the money for their school stuff I think you should at least go and buy some of their school supplies and take them too her so she will not have to come out of her pocket to take care of YOUR children. Your mother did not have those children you did and since you did not want to take care of them emotionally she took over that job but they should still be your responsibility financially. Even if you do pay child support that means jack. Children are expensive and if you took care of the ones you had you might know that. I personally have 3 myself and 1 lives with my mother not only does she get child support she also gets money for bills if she needs it as well as school supplies, clothes or what have you. That child is MY responsibility not my mothers just as the same goes for you. As far as claiming one on your taxes why should you, the money you give her in child support probably only pays for a 10th of what she has to spend on them children. Food, clothes, diapers (depending on the age), the electricity that keeps them warm in the winter and cool in the summer, the roof thats over their head that your not providing, etc.

If there is a court order telling you to pay her child support, she is suppose to taking that money to take care of those kids to include buy their school clothes and whatever else they need. Any money that you pay out of your pocket to her is considered a gift not support. Read your court order I am sure it does state that.

You cannot claim a child on your taxes unless that child has been living with you for over 6 months out of that tax year. It is illegal to claim a child who is not living with you.

What you need to do is seek legal advice.

As a single Mom who gets child support, I know that it's never enough to buy all that they need. So yeah, I think you should help out a little more at this time. As well as Christmas and stuff. After all....she didn't have them! And why should she let you claim them?? You can claim child support, but they aren't YOUR dependants!!

Hello. If you are paying your child support than you have actually already given her money to get their stuff with. You owe her no more. Does she control whether or not you get to claim them on your taxes? Do you have paper work saying she gets to? If not then you can claim them all b/c they're yours. IF you guys have papers written up you need to follow them even if that means you don't get to claim any of your kids. Sometimes life just isn't fair.
