my mama called me and said my little baby brother was shot. The hospital didn't know if he would live cause he wasn't breathing on his own. It's been almost five or six days and they still haven't contacted us. He was shot mby rival gang members, I tried calling the hospital but they wouldn't tell me. Should I go down there with my siblings and demand to know if my baby brother is dead. If he did wouldn't they of told us so we could plan a funeral for him. He is only 14 years old. He is to young. He had plans to go to collage and finish highschool. What should I do?

What a terrible ordeal for you and your family. I'm not quite sure, though, what you mean by "go down there". Is he in the hospital in the town where you live, or would you have to travel to another city or state? If the hospital is in your town, you should go down there. I'll warn you, though, that with the new privacy laws that have been enacted, hospitals aren't required to tell you if someone is even in their facility, even if you are family. The police may be keeping a lid on his condition and if he's still a patient there while they are actively investigating the case--perhaps to prevent further harm to your brother by the gang. There should be no problem if other family members are there.
If it's another city or state and you can manage it, my first instinct would be to go. Not knowing if his condition has stabilized or become better makes a decision harder. If he's critical and the doctors expect the worst, then go. If there's a chance for recovery, you may want to wait until he knows you're there. What I don't understand is why your mom hasn't contacted you since the accident to let you know how he's doing. I assume she hasn't left his side, but someone else who's there with her should call you. Try to get as much information from family as you can before you go. Base your decision on when you'll be needed most.

I can't believe that they haven't contacted you at all. Let's hope that no news is good news -- I can understand withholding private medical information, but seems like they would have to contact the family if someone died. Get down there and demand to find out what's going on; it's too easy to ignore someone over the phone but they can't if you go in person. Bless you, and best wishes to your family.

The hospital will not release information to anyone in the family. The law changed recently. Your mom should be able to get information from them in person. If your brother was shot, yes you need to go. I will pray for you and your family.

I would go there if I was you. Your brother needs you there with him.
So I guess this is the second shooting you have had in your family and very close together. That is very sad. If I did understand you, your own kids lost their dad by get shot before the one was born. That is a very sad deal.

Go to that hospital and demand information. If he died they would have told you, especially since you are close family. I mean, he's your bro, can't get any closer than that. They have no right to hold back information from you. I hope all goes well and i'm sure he's still alive.

1.go in ther and see your brother without permision
2.or you can pray that he's OK

You could call the hospital, explain who you are and ask if he is well. It is better to know the worst than to keep worrying ... I dont even know what to say. I hope you have a miracle and he is ok.
