It seems like my sex drive has been negatively effected by Lexapro. Would like to know if anyone else has this problem.

That is defenitely true. Many anti-depressants, old or new, affect the sex drive. Some options are to talk to your doctor about your dosage, or a different medicine. There's hundreds out there. Good luck.

I am a male, 33 and I have taken Lexapro for a while now but have seen no sexual side effects. Of course anti-depressants effect everyone a little differently. Have you taken other anti-depressants in the past? If so your body could be having this problem due to long term use. However, Lexapro is known to have fewer sexual side effects than most anti-depressants. Good luck though and hopefully the libido comes back!

Lexapro does have the potential to decrease one's libido, but not as much as other antidepressants. Still, it depends on the patient. One side effect I found pretty good was Lexapro decreased my appetite and I lost a few pounds.
I stopped taking Lexapro with my doctor's approval as it did help me but didn't want to take another pill forever. I'm dealing with depression, which is real but not so bad these days. I'm a Christian and finding much hope reading the Bible and meditating on the Word. It, for me is so much more effective than a pill :-)

Lexapro isn't supposed to have many sexual side effects - at least not as many as some of the others.

Talk to your doctor.

I struggle with this problem myself. My doctor, my gynecologist, told me to get myself a vibrator. He's an idiot. I've had one for years. There are so many scary anti-depressants out there with many more awful side effects that I'm taking my chances with my libido. Good luck with that.

Leaxpro is less likely to have sexual side effects than most antidepressants, but sometimes it does. Wellbutrin has the least possiblilty, you might talk to your doctor about that.

Heard that most all antidepressants and some relaxants cause this. Ask the doc for another kind

Unfortunately it does occur b/c of the type of medication. Only advice is tell your MD & have him/her change to an alternative but then again, they all have the POTENTIAL to cause decrease libido.........about 3% of patients
