For the foreseeable future, digital video (DV) cameras will get somewhat smaller, and share many features with digital still cameras. The biggest development is already underway in professional cameras, and it means the end of removable media. Soon everyone will be able to record right to a hard drive or solid state memory chips. When you want to edit, you just connect it to the computer and transfer files; no more tapes or disc.

Also High Definition video will soon become the norm, and everyone will be able to produce home movies with image quality close to the networks and the studios.
