what i'm trying to say is that if there is a huge problem, for example, poverty and child hunger in africa, usually nobody does anything unless it has anything to do with them? pollution, not that many people are interested in solving the polution problem, they just want to buy the best car they can find. who cares if it gives out pollution like crazy, right. drugs, alcohol, smoking, gangs, clubs, negative influence on children. it wont affect them unless the child that is a victem belongs to them.

Many people do care and do act to help. But unfortunately that is the minority. For many unless it is standing right in front of them it does not seem real.

It's because each person cannot be involved in everything, so we would naturally choose the issues that have impacted our own lives the most. Our own children being victimized is one of the biggest motivators for people to educate themselves on a subject and work towards the goal of correcting the problem.

It does not mean that people who aren't involved in reducing pollution or feeding the hungry, don't care about these issues, because we do care. It's just that our focus is first and foremost to the issues at hand in our own lives.

World hunger is a huge problem and should be addressed. As a matter of fact the US government along with othergenerous nations have given millions to the problem, but the funds were used by the country's ruler to purchase extravagant furnishings to go in their palaces and weapons to kill the hungry masses.
So, until the world can follow one benevolent dictator, the problem continues.
Sorry that is the way of mankind.
Keep your strong heart; but know, the more you feel, the tears you will shed.

Human nature is very powerful. (picture a balance)
One side is intellect/logic and the other is human nature.
Right now HN is still stronger - but I/L are gaining ground because people are slowly able to have more control over the fears that drive them. The "not-in-my-backyard" mentality is facing the fact that the backyards are getting closer due to better faster travel, and the internet. As humans set their fears aside logic will take it's place. More people will be helped.
Of course we are only 2000+ years "better off" than we were - we have a long way to go. DON"T BE DISCOURAGED. WE ARE GROWING - REALLY!

Poverty and child hunger in Africa or anywhere else can only be solved if the Governments of those countries stop fighting and agree to live in peace and start taking take of their people. Those problems are made by humans due to greed, corruption, bribery and desire for power.

It is difficult to understand the effect of anything unless you have felt and experienced it. Once you experience it for yourself, you understand the enormity of it all and if you are a good person, you should want to help.

You realize the other causes are just are worthy, but you just don't get it until you have been there.

Because unfortunately, in this day and age, most people only care about themselves. If something doesn't effect them, they could care less. But I guarantee you, if THEY were hungry, they'd find a solution to world hunger awfully fast!

Because my friend, we are too small and problems are too big. We have a territory each, and we can only scan and act within this territory. (Not like mighty America who is converting Bin Laden to Christianism so they can breathe fresher unpolluted air in Afganistan and even farther if they could).

it's because the whole world lies in the power of the wicked one. Satan and therefore the world promotes selfishness, all who are part of the world are self-centered. Jesus said we should be no part of the world.
