She doesn't like flowers (i don't know why, she never has.) She doesn't ever wear jewelry. She is a chocolate snob so I am afaid I would get the wrong thing ;).
I know she reads a lot and rides horses and loves japan, sushi, and cats. Any ideas? I'm bummed she doesn't like flowers becuase when you get your girl flowers it means only one thing....

I feel compelled to say that I hear the "take her horseback riding" bit all the time. While usually a great idea in this case she owns two horses, and is a multi-state dressage AND x-country champion. She has told me that every boy tries to ride with her but she doesn't find it special and she spends half her life on a horse as it is. No offense... It's like taking a cabbie for a country drive; they would just like to get out of the car for a while. I like to idea of buying her tack but not knowing horse that well I would have NO idea where to begin to shop for someone a serious a rider as she. Anyone know?

Get her a book by a favourite author, buy her something Japanese (maybe a kimono?). Does she have her own horse? If so, get her something for the horse. If not, maybe you could go out riding with her. How about something with cats on it?

What he is doing could be looked upon as an innocent gesture except for the sneaky thoughtless way he is behaving. His obvious lies are making him out to be someone who you need to consider if he is really worth marrying. Besides the fact that he can't remember when your birthday is, especially given the length of time you two have been together, is even more reason to question the validity of this relationship. It seems rather insulting that he can't remember when yours is, but has made a determined effort to send flowers and a picture to some ex girlfriend who he lies about and says he hasn't heard from her in more than two years. None of this would be so bad except for the deceit he is using by trying to pull the wool over your eyes which is digging him a deeper hole. It's bad enough he can't send you flowers or gifts. But the lies! He didn't just leave out the truth, he blatantly lied to you which is the part that is so hard to reckon with. Frankly, you wouldn't be blamed for not trusting him and you aren't being overly sensitive for doing so either. The fact is this marriage is in trouble even before it has had a chance to get off the ground. If you were to do anything it would be to grab hold of him and look him straight in the eye and ask him one more time what is really going on. No more "probing questions" that gives him a chance to weasel out it. If he doesn't come right out and tell you, then tell him you two are through. You may want to consider this option anyway since you've invested too much of the past year and a half to find out now that he is playing games and treating you with disrespect. He's already taken you for granted but now he is crossing the line. It's time now that you tell him what's on your mind and that you're fed up and not going to tolerate it. This will be his last opportunity which will set the course of how your future will become, whether it includes him or not.

Recipe book on making sushi
A book on horses
Japanese inspired handbag
And flowers do only mean one thing...I was too lazy to think of a decent gift.

I have always been flattered by the things that past boyfriends have done for me (get your mind out of the gutter), not necessarily by what they bought me. For instance, spend time with her by taking her to a pet store or an animal shelter if she likes cats, take her to a chocolate/candy store and buy her some chocolate that she picks out, take her to a sushi place for dinner/lunch, take her horse back riding (if possible).
Otherwise, picnics are always great, museums, amusement parks, etc.

Does she collect any thing? How about a gift certificate to a bookstore, or does she like to make sushi at home, if so a nice cookbook. Do you know what kind of chocolate she likes, if not find out. Good luck

Get her the books she's had her eye on. Or one by her fav author. Get her a set of sushi dishware. Take her to a local chocolate factory and let her pick something. Be creative.

You can't go wrong with Godiva chocolates....you might want to ask if she prefers dark or milk or a combination. Do you ride horses? Does she like camping, skiing, etc? I don't like jewelry either, but love choc & the outdoors. & books-but you'd have to find out what kind of books she likes.

roses and chocolate are cheesy and redundant...in some cases almost insulting, since you just know the guys is about to or have just done something stupid...so the best you can do is find out what she is Most interested in and get her something in relations to that...real simple but memorable , something that she will use a lot and think of you each time.
