I just wanted to know is this a scam?

It's a scam...they are probaly asking you to cash it and send a certain percentage of it back in good faith. The check turns out to fake and you are out $300!

I received a similar check, but for much more money. The check was issued from a Canadian company. In the letter it stated that I was to use the money to hire an agent to collect the remainder of my winnings. I deposited the check. It was counterfiet. You might want to do the same thing. Just deposit it and see what happens. Do not give any personal information or contact the issuer. To do so could make you vulnerable to fraud and identity theft. Was the check issued from a Canadian trucking company? Good luck- hope you receive your windfall.

It's a scam. But why don't just have a game with them? Ask them to send you the cheque, but don't send them any money before you received the cheque.

It is almost certainly a scam.
The Cheque probably has fine print on it somewhere to the effect that you are borrowing the money, or are agreeing to certain unspecified conditions, which could be almost anything.
I recommend you shred it.
There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Just deposit it in a bank account..Wait and see if it turns out to be bogus.Do not spend it. If the cheque is bogus the bank will just take back the money..You are out of nothing.

No harm getting to know if you won. Once they ask for money or some information, stop.
