I know what ya mean. (our tap water was nasty afore we moved to the country) Boil it until it starts bubbling really hard, then drink it.

You don't have to boil it for long. Once the water reaches boiling temperature all of the germs should be dead. I'd say two or three minutes.

If you want to be really particular, you could set up some kind of lid to catch and divert the steam from a pot of boiling water so the steam drips into a container, then drink what's in the container.

A water filter for your tap would probably be cheaper than bottled water. Also you can buy gallons of spring water or distilled water at Wal-Mart that will be much cheaper than smaller bottled waters like Dasani or Aquafina. Many grocery stores also sell purified bulk water in self-serve stations. You buy a gallon container and reuse it.

I'd say like 15-20 minuets would do fine. How about insed of making just plain water you add some flavor, like egg drop soup. It's just water with chicken and egg in it and it tastes good!
