I am not gay but have friends that are, and I moved to a small hick town that's supposed to be the bible belt in Oklahoma. However as a nurse I come across a lot of different people and they have lots of gay people in this town but they are looked down upon as if they are foreign or something and pretty much has formed a hater club against this. This to me is wrong and I don't think it's a choice and feel like no one would go through all the hate and trials and tribulations that I gay person has to go through almost the same as being a minority. What is your opinion

What I mean by it's sort of like being a minority is that it is not a choice

The problem with this case as opposed to other minorities is that this minority is different due to behavioral factors. I don't believe it's a choice. I also don't believe it's something you're born with. That would imply that somehow genetics are involved. Many things shape us as people during childhood, and I believe that it's probably certain subtle factors, maybe combined with biology in some way, that result in homosexuality.

Simple answer. Ask a straight person and they will sometimes think its a choice. If you are gay and asked it is 99 percent born that way. You might not act on it. Even be with a woman but its not a tuely happy relationship. Been in both and im now out and witha partner of years. Oh and Lucky.... You don't have the same God I do apparently. You are the reason why we have names like Breeder for you.

I am gay. I tried to change my sexuality once and it didn't work. Then I accepted myself.
Whatever the point of view, I can assure you it was not a choice. I remember homosexual traits at five years old. Would a five year old choose homosexuality when he has no clue of what sex even is? Most gays I have talked to did not choose homosexuality either.
Hope that helps.

Its who you are, knows if you are born gay or if its someone's choice. Either way, you are what you are. I say screw other ppl and do what is best for you. And hell thats what they do and same with me being a minority I do what I have to do. Just the way of the world.

I think your born that way. I don't know for sure especially since I'm not gay, but I feel like my attraction to the opposite sex is not something I really chose, it just happened naturally. I think its the same for gay people but they just are attracted to the same sex. I agree that its wrong for gay people to be hated as much as they are.

i think you are born that way or develop that way depending on what happens to you as you grow up but dont choose it like i can see an elementary school kid and know he will bbe gay just by his characteristics. Im not gay but the gays i know say they knew since elementary but may not have come out until they were grown.

i dont think you choose to be gay.. everyone has their own sexually preferences.. whether its people liking blondes, or brunettes..short hair or long hair or tall people or short people to whether you like women or men... you cant help it if your more attracted to one thing than the other..when it comes to relationships and choosing a mate.. its not.. o i want him.. and you made your decision.. along comes all these emotions and feelings that you must have.. and the connection and chemistry that you must feel in order to choose a person.. and we all know that we cant control our emotions or how we feel...meaning they have no control over it.. hence its not their choice.

its a choice, a lifestyle and gays although they still have rights to their citizens rights, do not need any "extra" rights...I will teach my children that homosexuality is not an appropriate lifestyle and God is NOT okay with it.
