I don't think "peace" in religion will ever be realized till every religion recognizes the fact that people have the right to worship whomever. whatever and however they please!{ as long as their practices aren't forced on other people!} And live in "peace"!Think of the term "holy wars"! How can a war be "holy"! everything that war is , is completely against the love thy neighbor philosophy! "Love" him if he believes what you do?, but if he doesn't "kill" him? All in the name of religion! In order to have peace in religion you would have to have one nation , under one God, Indivisable {not divided one religion } with libery{freedom} and justice {one set of rules } for all ! Now where did I hear that?Do you really think there can be "peace" THe "real" peace?

I agree that religion should be a more peace-oriented thing, but I don't really think that peace is the goal of religion.

The goal of religion is to find comfort, purpose, and truth in our mysterious existence.

I don't see why the goal of religion should be peace. It doesn't really make sense. It'd probably be just as chaotic if we all tolerated eachother's religions. We'd find something else to pick on -_-

But I guess peace is kind of the goal. The goal is to love one another..iunno. Religion brings up SO many questions and arguements.

It should be the goal, but that is not so. Every religion wants to have the most followers, even if it means killing one another. They also kill others because they think they cause their religion problems. Like how christians happen to blame jews for many things like the plague and for making germany's economy terrible (ww11).

The goal of being a christian is not to bring peace. Why? It isnt a Biblical fact that true peace will ever come to earth before Jesus comes. Sin has done this to the world.

Christians do have duties tho. They are to live a Christ life in order to demonstrated God to others. We are Biblically told to spread the gospel, heal the sick and cast out demons.

Who said the goal of religion is peace?

The goal of religion is "TRUTH" (notice the quotes and capital letters...)... whatever it takes to spread that "TRUTH" is justified in the eyes of religion... Yeah, I know we're in a more enlightened age now and only Islam (and possibly Judaism) seems to be the one using FORCE to expand their "TRUTH", but Christianity has had it's moments in history as well... and if it starts to decline, want to place bets on how long it takes the Catholic church to re-enact it's "Holy Mission" of speading Christianity by the sword?

The practitioners of religion may want peace, but the politicians of religion want to spread the word, at any cost and at any price.

That's not the goal of religion. Religion is Man's attempt at reaching God. It has nothing to do with peace.

Amen William C. Certainly the dominant religions don't advocate peace. Most wars in the past 2000 years have involved religion, if not as the real reason, it is used as a catalyst.

The problem is the leaders of religion tend to get power hungry and get their "blind" followers to kill so that the leaders can grasp tighter to their thrones and positions of power. Twist Mother Teresa's word around enough and they'd be warmongering too. Sucks for the pawns that are used in this ridiculous game.

Agree with William C. Its goal is to follow a set of beliefs.
