If you get a perm your going to mess up you hair. More than likely your hair is nice, you just might need to know how to fix it up.

Yes , perms are bad for your hair . It breaks down the chemically structure of your hair leaving it weak and brittle. An having relaxed hair isnt easier if you think. If you get a perm you have to baby you hair more (protein treatments & weekly deeo conditioners)

Getting a perm can be both good and bad. If you hair is very thick it might not take the perm evenly because your hair has all different prosoity levels. Also, be sure to have layers cut in your hair or you will end up with a triangle look. Be sure it is something that you want to do, because perms are somthing that have to be grown out, they dont just fade away, so you are stuck with straight re-growth. Perms in all honestly are not that damaging to your hair, unless you have bleach on your hair. Most people can safely perm there hair, even with 50% of there hair highlighted. Perms are usually a little too curly at first, so if you do decide to get one dont freak out the first few days. it will relax a little. Be sure to really think about what you want to do. Good luck

If you are really interested in getting a perm I would suggest that you know what product the stylist is going to use. The best perm out there is Redken. I only use that. Remember that your hair will relax after about 2 weeks of getting a perm. You will want to acheive the right curl size for the look that you want . If you find an experienced hairstylist they should know what to do.

The secret for a perm is to have a heated perm done, and then cut your hair after wards. Thicker hair will not burn as much.
Also keep in mind, that if you perm your hair, you will have to keep doing it when you lose the perm and it begins to fall as fresh new grown hair appears.
My advice to you is to get a natural design cut on your hair so that you can manage it better and also give you a new feel about yourself without using chemicals in your hair or destroying what is beautiful already:)
Good Luck

I have naturally wavy hair :-( and it is extremely difficult to do anything with. I love my hair curly but perming my hair took its toll. However, if you have the $ to take care of it, getting a perm is safe enough. Lots of things damage hair, sun exposure, blow drying, products, brushing, etc... but the right products and proper care can make all the difference. i have decided to just curl it when i feel a need for a change. i would say it depends on how bad you want it. If you want it bad enough and you have the $ for the upkeep, go for it. I would.

Okay, perms are not bad for your hair like they used to be.
If you really want a perm and you think your hair will hold a chemical treatment well, then go to a salon that offers Biolage products. They have lots of natural good for your hair ingredients, and best of all, they smell SOOOOOOOOO good. No chemical smell whatsoever. You will love it!

ya know i've had alot of perms and it never effected me, but im no expert... i don't have strait hair (although i wish i had) i have very thick wavy hair and it is poofy, so it might be different with your hair, but i think you can buy different types of perms for different types of hair... and no i don't think it will be bad for your hair, because i have gotten alot of perms it never effected my hair, but i would go to the salon and ask a few quick questions to be sure, because it would not be nice to have a perm turn out bad... trust me, it takes like 8 months to grow out and i REALLY hope this helped you...
