Just look around in this category and you will see plenty of struggling going on. There are many who are lost and hurting. Many who hide that (even from themselves) behind their hostility and venom.
If you want to find out what your church youth are struggling with JUST ASK them. They will probably be tentative about opening up. You will have to create a non-threatening secure environment and mood. It might take a number of sessions to achieve that. With some patience and understanding you can do that.
If you are thinking that you can just stand up front behind a pulpit and field questions--well, you aren't going to get very deep doing that. You will just get some superficial stuff. Don't make it a Preach to them thing, make it a talk to them thing. Conversation will get you somewhere worth going.
You can count on the fact that they do not want to feel JUDGED, even when they are seeking some guidance. And the youth are more sensitive about that than grown ups.
No matter how intelligent you believe them to be, it is worth remembering that the human brain does not finish maturing until around age 22. And the last parts to mature are the centers of higher reasoning and understanding. So, yes they really do think differently than you do.
Most importantly approach this with MUCH prayer and seeking of the Holy Spirit's guidance. Allow Him reign and give Him place and you cannot go wrong. It is only when we try to take back the reigns that we drive off the path.
John Wesley said, "God does nothing, save through prayer."
No move of God, No revival, great or small, has begun without much intercession.
May the Grace of our Lord be with you, now and always, may you stay blameless until He comes.

Good question! From the youths I've talked to in my church, the biggest deal is the general 'peer pressure': pressure to have sex, pressure to dress provacatively, pressure to smoke pot, pressure to rebel against authority, pressure to listen to music that encourages all of the above and then some. There seem to be less and less Christian teenagers since I was one - I hear it's pretty hard to keep the faith when people around you are calling you stupid to believe (just like Yahoo Answers!).

These questions are coming from a sixteen-year-old, here, but I'm not sure how young you consider the "youth" to be. I hope these are sufficient. These questions are already answered for myself, but each of these are still strongly debated by others:
- Why does God allow humans to suffer? (including emotional or physical pain, such as the loss of a loved one or starvation, respectively)
- How can we be respectful (treat others as we would treat ourselves) of other religions or lack thereof, even if some or all of our beliefs do not coincide?
- What is the best way to communicate my own faith? (answer being: by educating and defending -- don't be closeminded and unwilling to hear the other side of the argument, because by listening to them, you may very well gather useful knowledge from their side as well -- always put yourself in the other person's shoes)

For starters, what they think about God. Is it important to them to have a relationship with Him? What sort's of things do they pray for? How do you pray?(for God's will to be done)? Sex before marriage. Right or Wrong? Abortion. Right or Wrong?
Me for instance, I am a young adult. 14. I often wonder how long do i have to wait for my Plan in life. I want to do his will, but I often don't know how.Even when i ask him. Maybe ask if anyone else feels this way..becausei know my friend does as welll so I'm assuming others are too.
Mayeb ask what they think about other non-christan people...their friends maybe. Brain storm how to help them.
Encourage them to not be ashamed to tell someone they are christan.
I oftern look for heart to heart discussion starters. How do I bring up the topic of Jesus, and being saved.

What happens when we die? Why does God permit suffering? What is our purpose in life? How much does God really love me? What is sin?Why are there so many different beliefs where religion is concerned? Why is there so much hate in the world?
The list could go on and on, but I don't know what religious belief you are teaching and I don't want to say something that is not of your faith, and I don't know how old the kids are. I'm sure you will come up with something great anyways. You are doing a great thing with the kids. God Bless.

Are you for real?
Do you actually believe what you are saying?
These are some of the questions.
Did Jesus actually come to do away with the law?
Are we just sinners saved by grace?
Or were we sinners and saved by His grace.
Eph 2:1 through eph. 2:5. Pay attention to the tenses.
How many times is he going to get on the cross?
Once for all. All sin past present and future. Is this what He did?
Foremost of all, for each, Did He do that for me?
And moving on
Heb 6:1 through 6:3... OLay!
Heb 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Heb 6:2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
Heb 6:3 And this will we do, if God permit.
What is dead works?
Meaningless rituals.

Does God really exist? What kind of evidence is there is prove that Jesus really did live and that God exists? Are the gods in all the other religions untimately the same as the god in Christianity?
Those were questions that I personally struggled with when I was younger.
