I'm not talking about everyone here, but there are many who find it amusing to jeer and mock people in R&S. Not to mention, when they do that, and they don't leave any way for you to reply, then they really make cowards of themselves.
Why can't we be better people in general, no matter what theology we follow or not? Especially when we're talking about R&S.
Are there people who would like to see R&S become a kinder place on the 'net? Is this too much to ask for?
I I'm gonna catch flack for this. Bombs away.

I am who I am - compassionate, intelligent, sensitive, passionate, and positive. I refuse to grow a thick skin I'm on the Internet to stay. A thick hide is good for a walrus, but not for a human being. We should be kind toward one another, and a thick skin gets in the way.
Thick skin? NO.

It's the internet, not a tea party. Grow a thick skin or go play somewhere else.

Several reasons why they can not. One there is a growing lack of respect for people and things. People because of this type of forum which gives them a place to hide and spew their hearts desires because they know they pretty well can say what is in their heart and get away with it. Thus their hearts are bent on evil and this continuously so. Therefore it gives these people a perfect place to shed inhibitions and go for the throat or for whatever they may choose to go for.
Next it is because people are becoming more brazen about being malicious, disgusting, their true self comes out, because they are empowered to say whatever they want to say and it don't ruffle their coat tales a bit, or bother their conscious which are seared with a hot iron.
Mocking, torment, rude, obnoxious, loud, vulgar, insensitive, cruel, heartless, ruthless, disrepectful, and the like is a product of the sinful nature of man, and will always wax worse and worse until it is dealt with by either yieding to the Holy Spirit or final judgement being cast into the confines of Hell where the worm dies not and the fire is unquenchable.
Too much, to ask for, unfortunately on this side of Heaven yes, on the internet definitely way too much. Yet the cure is available if we only avail ourselves to it - in the Name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit - Amen!

Religion has claimed more lives and started more wars than anything else I can think of. I can't even begin to offer an explanation for why this is, other than greed. Money, fame, and respect have been either taken, or earned through all of humanity's time. Those that take it need to find a reason to justify doing so. I can't think of a better reason than to preach about a higher calling. Don't get me wrong, please. I'm not bashing anyone's religion. I'm just saying the wrong people use the ideals of religion to bolster a cause for a very nasty effect. Tyrannical Popes have been just as guilty of doing the same as King Richard, and as the radical fundy muslims we hear so much about today. Religion brings out the best, and the worst in people.

It would present a very good feeling, if we could all share.. with love and respect. I admit that on a few occasions, I went in the direction I shouldn't have.. and I do apologize for that. I'm human.. .
I don't think that if we shared of our faith with others, each of us.. that that would be a bad idea. If you're strong enough in your walk.. I don't think anything that anyone would say, would give you cause to leave your path... though admittedly, I would like to think some would leave their path.. or that their journey would lead them to the truth. Please note, I am not saying my truth..
Jesus was jeered, and mocked.. and worse..
Kinder place.. may be is just a dream... here.

Im trying to ignore most of the mean remarks and mean quistions on here. From both sides. I have seen Christians and Athiest alike get down right rude and spiteful. It is hard though to not defent yourself, and even harder to find a nice way to do it without sounding like a brainwashed idiot. I try to skip the mean ones and move on to something I can do without lowering myself to there level. I would love to come to Y/A and find that it has come to an end but thats life and there isnt much I can do about it.

I agree with you. There should be more respect for one another here on Yahoo! Answers. Now having said that, you must realize that if we were sitting face to face there would be different questions and different answers. I try not to let it bother me. There still is more good than bad to be found here. Did you see where they moved the statue of Ramses II from Cairo to the Pyramids at Giza ?

I agree with you, and of late it has become an unpleasant place to visit. Being kind helpful and polite helps make the world a much better place.
For those of us who are Christians - we should be an example to others, seeking to passing on God's attributes, not putting people off!

I think that religion - like politics and sexuality... is a favourite excuse some people use to attack another.
Its good to ask questions and hear the answers, but I don't think its as useful or fun if someone is being delibrating hateful or trying to stir up hate in others.
I try and answer honestly but with love for all people.
God loves atheists! He may not like everything they do, but also he's not fond of some of the actions of a super spiritual Christian full of pride.
That's the way I live.

I agree with you, 100%, and I would love to see all who post in R&S to be kinder, gentler, compassionate and caring.
However, many religions, including Christianity, teach that "nonbelievers" are worse off, and even hated by the God of their religion.
An example would be Fundamentalist Islam where all others are viewed as infidels whose deaths, in some cases, are supposed to please Allah.
Not all Muslim Women and Men believe this, though.
Likewise, Fundamentalist Christians (I've known too many) also believe nonbelievers are cursed before God and, with some I've known, the deaths of sinners "pleases" God.
Not all Christian Women and Men believe this, though.
Then there are the irreligious who simply find enjoyment in being ugly.

wish that could happen sweetheart. but i really doubt that at the same time.and no its not too much to ask forbeing kind but it is something everybody should do spontaneously.
i always wonder why people have to carry so much hate for others for someone elses' mistakes???. no body is perfect here yet they wanna judge others.
well bad mouthing someone is not what God, religion or prophets taught. many people her brag about them being perfect but they hardly know anything. people tend to forget that we all will remain students all our lives.
may the peace and blessings of Allah with us and may He guide us on the right path.

I want to be an encouraging voice for you but the truth is people behave only as they have been taught or not taught. This place is definitely whacked but actually you shouldn't grow a thick skin you should only have a light heart about the annoying ones. Besides Carlos Mencia is right there are a lot of Duh Duh Duhs out here.
Watch him on Comedy Central he will cheer you up.
