Yes it is normal, usually because of cheap companies that build crap apartments to make $$ off you being furious with your neighbor because they failed to adequately sound proof the building. Get a better apartment or live on the top floor yourself.

Usually it is children and if you are new or not around a lot the parents may not be paying attention or not be aware that you are even home. Apartment managers that knowingly place families with small children ABOVE single people should be FIRED.

I don't think it's at all uncool to tap a broom on the ceiling to let them know YES I'M HERE and to at least make an attempt.

Next step? Blast your stereo really loud? Oh, you can hear me? I was just trying to drown out all that STOMPING sort of thing. No that's not the best idea because really you have to deal w/ these people living next to you on a daily basis for who knows how long so don't do something you will regret.

I lived upstairs for 2 years and raising a 3 year old was VERY difficult to keep her from running around or jumping off the furniture. But to be honest it was a 20 yo female roommate of mine that was the worst. I COULD NOT get through to her that she could CONTROL how she walked around because she stomped around EVERY DAY. I caught her at every opportunity and tried to impress upon her what that would Sound Like to the People Downstairs. I finally moved her out.

If you just recently moved in or are just moving in tell your management immediately and find out if there are any other apartments available and consider moving to a different apartment. Imagine the people who have to live in the middle, the 2nd story of the 3 story walk up. Jerk offs above, assholes below. LOL

For the main area, noise is an area of the kit whilst residing in a communal atmosphere. it is likewise area of having a downstairs apartment. we live in a downstairs apartment, and comedian tale pertaining to to the little 4-12 months-previous lady in the apartment above us. She's a teeny little subject, yet from the noises we hear coming from the apartment above, you will think of she gained one hundred lbs the 2nd she steps foot in the front door. in the event that they have been scuffling with loudly, enjoying music or television loudly, or having a noisy social gathering, it is reason to call the police to come again out or have the administration say something to them. What they have been doing, strolling around, establishing and shutting doorways, even the intercourse, isn't unreasonable, and there is no longer something all people can do to stop it. they at the instant are not stomping around, notwithstanding if it form of sounds like it. purely time-honored strolling in an upstairs apartment appears like a herd of elephants to the persons below. in case you sense like doing this, refer to them. purely ask that when a undeniable time, they attempt to stay quiet. i does not tell them that, nevertheless. That communique won't bypass properly.

Get some 8" nails a step stool and a 18oz hammer. First tap the nails just a little bit to get them started, then pull back and wail on em' until they go in flush. I would put about 43 in to make sure the job gets done right. After that, I don't think they'll run around so much.

It is probably quite normal to want to fire your gun into the ceiling, but it won't stop them from making noise and then you'll probably go to jail for discharging a firearm. But if it is that bad then call your landlord and file a complaint. Usually they will get a few warnings then they could be evicted! If that doesn't work hang your speakers close to the ceiling at 3am and blast your base. You'll feel better!

Simply pick up the phone and do the following
1. Call the police and state
"hello, this is ***** calling from ****, I am concerned about a strange disturbance coming from the upstairs apartment, # ******, sounds like a scuffle, some kind of disturbance.

This should stop that kind of behavior. If they do it again, call again. Each and every time.

This has happened to me before. What you should do is try and talk to them if you think they are reasonable people. They might not know they are causing you all the pains you are going thru right now. If that does not work, go to the leasing office of your apartment and lodge a formal complaint. That should do it.

Bang the ceiling with a broom handle.....ask them to be quite or put down a rug on the floor to muffle their footsteps. I understand how you feel because I lived in the top appartment for 2 1/2 years. My downstairs neighbor seemed to know EVERYTHING that went on in my appt. until I put down a thick area rug.

Remove the ceiling, and let the neighbors, fall on your sleep number mattress. Both of you would have a good night sleep. just adjust the sleep numbers to a mutual comfort level, mine is 95
