I just returned from this area on Sunday... great trip. I'd recommend checking out the Fisherman's Wharf and eating the clam chowder in a sour dough bowl at Guardino's. After that, head for Muir Woods across the Golden Gate Bridge for some breath-taking Redwoods and great hiking trails. Then take a drive to the town of Napa... we stayed for less than $100 a night... and there are plenty to choose from, too. Enjoy plenty of hiking in the area... most of it is free. Site-seeing galore... you and your hubby might like to do some wine-tasting while your 13 year old samples the various cheeses... several wineries to choose from. If you want to splurge like we did, take a hot air ballon ride across the Napa Valley... it's $200 per person which includes an excellent brunch. You'll go up 2000 feet and the views are breath-taking... truly an experience you'll never forget.
