Why dont you go for a second opinion. Have your results faxed to a new Dr. and see what he/she has to say. Maybe you need medicine to clear that up, or possibly a different treatment.

Go get a second opinion at a gyno. At my 6 week with my first child the pap came back abnormal, another pap done had hpv, biopsy done and needed to have chrymotherepy (freezing of abnormal cells). Doc told me 1/3 get worse, 1/3 get better and 1/3 stay the same. Before I had the chrymotherepy done found out I was pregnant, at this 6 week...NO HPV

This happened to me. Don't wait go to another doc. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer 3 months later at my next pap. This is nothing to mess with!!!! My cancer was removed without a hysterectomy and I am now cancer free, I still go for paps every 3 months... with a different doc!!! Many times these abnormal cells do clear up on their own, but better safe than sorry. If you can get rid of the HPV your chances are much better, healthy eating, exercise, no smoking, no drinking... basically strengthen your immune system and your body will fight off the HPV.
Good Luck.

The Human Papilloma Virus(HPV) is the one that causes genital warts and is also the culprit that precedes cervical cancer. It's a virus that you contract from sexual activity.
Nuns don't get HPV and if they did....one might wonder where she had been to get this virus.
It's August 17 and waiting until September is not too big a deal.
Don't worry too much, they will do a biopsy and then decide what action to take.
It's good it's caught early so it's not yet cancer, it's "abnormal" cells and they can be dealt with in an office setting or by a cone biopsy.
Push for an appointment with an OB-GYN anyway, can't be too careful.
And...don't worry, welcome to the real world of women.

Get another doctor! HPV doesn't "go away". If necessary because of insurance, have your current doctor refer you to a GYN.
I too had HPV discovered during PAP and my GYN was extremely informative and did a series of things (I can't remember the name, but they took thin slices from my cervix) until the labs came back normal. Then I went every 3 months for a year, then every 6 months for a year and then annually.
Look for a GYN interested in treating you and not just looking to collect insurance money for an office visit.

You dont give your age. If you have these warts you need a second opinion and get the treatments to remove them. I had taken birth control pills for some time and my paps came back abnormal. before the birth control pills they were normal so I told the doctor I wanted to stop the pill for a couple months and redo the test.I did and my next 3 tests were normal. if this is the case ask your Doctor every ones body dosent always work the same. Please do take your concerns to a doctor who deals in only female problems. they are the best and went to school to deal in just these problems

No, I would not trust this doctor. This is your life, get a handle on it. Ask for what you want. Look into cryosurgery for removal of the cervical warts. This is very cold, it freezes the warts off. The cells in the vagina are mostly water. The irregular cells (dysplasia) could be precancerous. Millions of women die from cervical cancer each year.
There is no cure, but cryosurgery is most effective. This disease is very contageous. I would obstain from sex. Condoms are ineffective. If you have sex with someone unprotected, they will contract it and you will be reinfecting yourself. But it is a virus, it will run its course.
Take this seriously.

was this your gynecologist that did this pap or your primary physician . . if it was your primary, I would go immediately to your gynecologist . . if you were showing irregular cells with the pap, you would then have what is called a colposcopy to determine what the cells are . . it is slightly uncomfortable but nothing that really hurts . . like a pap but they actually take tissue, not just a swabbing . . anytime anyone gives you results of a test that you don't understand, you are entitled to a second opinion . . if I were you, I would be getting one immediately
