Heya, I have the same problem, here are some tips that I follow to get superb-ish-ly straight hair :D
Alright, first of all straightening your hair shouldn't take less than an hour if you want it truly straight.
1. To lessen the damage use a leave-in conditioner preferably spray on. I reccomened Ojon revitalizing mist, you can find it at a Costco or on QVC.
2. Take a rat tail comb, or a pencil (either works) and make a small seperation at the base of your scalp, around one inch up. Put the rest of your hair up using a ponytail holder or clips.
3. Take a 1/4 of an inch section, start from the root to the tip, let the hair fall out of the straightener. Continue with the rest of the layer.
4. Use the same technique with the rest of your head with the rest of your head.
5. When you're done touch up if needed.
6. And although it may be damaging, it's best to do it at a high heat.

Take mayonnaise and hot oil and apply it to your hair, WHILE ITS DRY! Leave it on for about one hour, or even more for extra dry, damaged hair.
Wash your hair with a tiny bit of moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Run your hair under cold water. Squeeze out the excess water and apply straightning/frizz serum to your hair. Apply to the ends of your hair, not to the roots, so that they don't get oily. You might want to add some mousse for extra hold.
Detangle any knots using a wide-toothed comb If your hair is really knotty, try using a detangling spray. Do not brush!
Pin up the top section of your hair and use the round brush to blow dry your hair. Hold the hair sections out taut and point the hairdryer down to dry it. Do this section by section, so that your hair is completely dry. You may want to then dry up the hair, from the neck to the end of the strands. This makes it easier to get the hair on the back of the head.
If you have decided to use a hair straightener, put your hair into sections again, and run over your hair with the straightener. Grip one section of hair. Clamp the flat iron onto the top portion of the section. Slowly, move the iron down your hair. Repeat up to three times.
Brush hair, and finish off with a small amount of serum.
Tips
Before you get out of the shower, rinse your hair with cold water. This will make your hair extra shiny!
When blowdrying your hair, make sure the hairdryer is pointing down, so that all the hair folicles point down, which equals super shiny hair, which is the look we're going for! Also, before blow-drying, consider applying a heat protection spray.
Don't use too much hair serum or hair products, because you don't want your hair to look lank and greasy.
Some good products to try: Chi Silk Infusion or Redken Smooth Down, Nexxus Heat Protexx.
If your hair is fragile, use a low setting on the iron. If it's thick and unruly, make the heat almost the hottest it can be.
Warnings
Don't brush your hair when it's wet, because it stretches and breaks the hair. Always use a wide-toothed comb.
If you're in a rush and need to dry your hair, don't take the easy way out and use your hair straightner when it's wet. See that steam coming out? It dries out your hair. Always use a hairdryer prior to straightening.
ALWAYS use heat protection spray or else your hair will get damaged from straightener.

I treat my hair with olive oil sometimes, and though it looks wet, it goes super-straight. If you use less it won't look so wet(a little bit at a time) You may not want to do this all the time, unless you can get just the right amount. I also layered my hair myself, and it really made a difference. (by the way, you need to shampoo to get the oil out)

Try waxing it with a heavy gel and leave it under a dryer. It will fry right up and go flat.
