I am also fair, blond and very light skinned. I had lots of swelling, but no bruising. The pain was controlled with meds. I would not have been able to go back to work or school for a couple of days. For me it was good to have them gone.

Hey Jaime - I too have very fair skin and bruise easily. When I had all 4 removed (1 trip), I did bruise but it wasn't horrible and lasted about a week. Because everyone knew what I had done, it wasn't a big deal.

I had a terrific oral surgeon and I had no problems healing with very little actual "pain". There's the annoying throbbing feeling with any type of surgery but it was bearable. I did take pain meds off and on initially but it wasn't as bad as I really was anticipating. My husband also went through it a year or so after and had similar results with healing but he didn't bruise at all. I'm thinking it depends on your tendency to bruise to begin with.

Best of luck! And don't do what I did the night before and find all the tragic horror stories of wisdom teeth pulling --- those are so rare and far between. It will be all good.... :)

And just to add what a previous post was asking - a lot of times those teeth simply decay faster and are better off being pulled. My wisdoms were coming in - 1 in particular in a crooked way - my other teeth were crowding. I didn't have any pain with them but it was recommended by my dentist. Getting them pulled sounds much more scarier than it really is. (but it's normal to freak out a little) ;)

I'm blonde and fair skinned also. I had all 4 taken out when I was 10 years old. It hurt and I had looked like a chipmunk for about 2 days afterward (swelling in my cheeks). But no bruising.

I'm blonde, fair and light skinned, and had all four of mine out at once. I had no bruising and no swelling whatsoever. I only had pain the first day (didn't even need the painkillers.) No problems at all! I either had a really good dentist or was really lucky.

I had 5 impacted wisdom teeth removed while I was awake. My skin is practally transparent and I also am blonde. I'm not sure that makes a difference but you will swell up quite a bit. I experienced slight bruising. If your wisdom teeth are not impacted I really don't think it will be that bad. Don't worry so much. I know it is scary but you will be fine.

i did not have much sweeling/bruising afterwards but do exactly what the doctor tells you about the icepacks that will keep the swelling down.

I heard that it is usually really BAD.... I did not take mine out-- I let them grow out... I wonder why people take them out and go through all that pain?
