Have had a VW Golf4 TDI (all letters Red) and it has got some amazing torque and the consumption is unreal. around 6literes/100km. It is small, drives well and can be customized/tuned for a resonable price

a Mercedes Benz is the best one to buy,,it may cost a little more,,but in the long run it is worth it,,and as far as dependable,,you cant beat it,,i ow a repair shop in Tennessee,,and have seen some of the Mercedes go for as high as 400 thousand miles ,,trouble free,,that's pretty good,,try comparing that to anything else,,i hope this helps.
