10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.
9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.
8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.
7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!
6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.
4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."
3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian

I'd call myself a true Christian, but almost none of these apply to me. I think when you say "true Christian," you mean "lunatic fundamentalist." There is an valuable distinction to be made between the religions (both "Christianity") of Pat Robertson and of Paul Tillich.
I believe that man evolved over millions of years, I am respectful of other religions for the most part (except for obvious scams like Scientology), I find the distinction between the three parts of God uncompelling (many people consider trinitarian theology to value tradition over evidence), I recognize that God as presented in the Old Testament is brutal and frequently given to unnecessary cruelty, I don't believe in speaking in tongues. . .
Anyway, my point is that although plenty of people have gotten Christianity wrong over the years (e.g., the Inquisition and President Bush), you have too. Your impression of Christianity fails to reflect the vast number of sensible people who think that the Biblical account of Creation is at best metaphorical. This includes even the Catholic Church, the single largest religious organization in the world!
You're thinking about religion, which puts you ahead of the indifferent public. Just considering these questions is important. But a more serious approach -- one that's not based on sweeping generalizations and vitriol -- will consider the work of serious theologians like Paul Tillich, Sandra Schneiders, N.T. Wright, Rudolf Bultman, Albert Schweitzer, etc. Keep thinking about religion, but realize that doing so in a more mature and intellectually viable fashion, even if you still reject Christianity, will help you to see the perspectives of others as well as make you more generally knowledgeable. Christianity isn't just some scam; it can have value and meaning even to those who don't literally believe in it, much like a classic novel or poem.

This "question" (!?!) has been "asked" dozens of times here already. The "question" contains many outright lies and gross distortions about the bible and true Christianity. Here are a few Scriptural thoughts to consider:
(Romans 16:17) Keep your eye on those who cause divisions and occasions for stumbling contrary to the teaching that you have learned, and avoid them.
(2 Corinthians 4:4-6) The god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers
(Philippians 2:14-15) In among a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you are shining as illuminators in the world
(1 Timothy 6:3-5) If any man teaches other doctrine and does not assent to healthful words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, nor to the teaching that accords with godly devotion, he is puffed up with pride, not understanding anything, but being mentally diseased over questionings and debates about words. From these things spring envy, strife, abusive speeches, wicked suspicions, violent disputes about trifles on the part of men corrupted in mind and despoiled of the truth

Um, no
10 - There is but one living God. It's simply a matter of whether or not people will recognize it.
9 - No I don't. I support science, not primitive myths.
8 - I don't laugh at others' beliefs. That seems to be a childish arrogance that only you have demonstrated so far. And though the Trinity is often a confused and misguided attempt to penetrate the divine mysteries, you equation of it with polytheism belies your ignorance.
7 - Again, no. Your presumptions are astonishing.
6 - No. Once again, you demonstrate your astonishing ignorance of the fundamentals of Christian theology. Read a book and learn something before you attempt to discredit it.
5 - No. Now you're just making a fool or yourself.
4 - No. Hell is a pagan myth not supported by the teachings of Jesus, the prophets or the apostles.
3 - Point out one incident where I have performed what you describe.
2 - Again, no.
1 - And you're putting yourself out as an example of the well-educated atheists? Where did you study theology, the Jack Chick publication center? Go to school and read a book. Start with Augustine and proceed from there.

None of those. I have faith in God, prays to him, believes that He answers my prayer, but i respect what science have found out. I believe that what science is saying and what the bible is saying coincides with each other. You just don't take the bible literally, it has deeper meaning than what you can read in there. You never know, that being created from dirt refers to something else and not its literal meaning.
Anyway, we are true christians based on our relationship with God and other people. A person said to be having a relationship with God but does not respect other peoples belief and opinion, then claims to be a christian is a big liar.

You know, some of the things you are describing only defines some of the Christians, and those Christians are not true Christians if they can't respect others' ideas. Also, the Bible does have historical evidence. Just read books like "Dinner With a Perfect Stranger", "The Case for Christ", "The Case for God", and "The Case for a Faith." You can check them out at a library or buy them from www.christianbooks.com.
If you feel like they are not worth reading, then why did you post this question without expecting at least one person to give you something to research?
