Blu-ray is a high definition format with several new audio formats for 7.1 and greater surround sound encoded with it. The sampling rate and bandwidth of blu-ray audio is slightly superior to the forthcoming HD-DVD format. Both of which will require a seperate player, both of which will play current DVD's. NEITHER of which will make your current DVD's High-definition as suggested above. Most of the players will require a digital connection thru HDMI to get the maximum resolution output, so do go buying one unless you know your current HDTV can support the proper resolution on the proper input to match the specific player you buy.

Blu-ray is basically the subsequent era of DVD. A blu-ray disc feels like a primary DVD yet could be performed in a blu-ray participant, no longer a primary DVD participant. Blu-ray discs can carry plenty greater archives than primary DVDs, which makes them reliable for wearing video clips in HD. in case you do not have a HDTV yet, then do no longer complication approximately blu-ray. whilst you should use a blu-ray participant with a primary television, it won't look any further helpful than your contemporary DVD participant and DVDs. on the different hand, primary DVD is unlikely everywhere. assume to work out new releases on the two DVD and blu-ray for the foreseeable destiny. in case you do decide to purchase a blu-ray participant, it extremely is going to additionally play your contemporary DVDs - so which you lose no longer something by utilising upgrading.

Blu Ray is one of the high definition DVD formats just being introduced; the other is HD-DVD. These discs use different techology from standard DVD, but hold much more data. HD-DVD is closer to current standard DVD disc technology than Blu Ray. You cannot play Blu Ray or HD-DVD on ordinary DVD players, but the high definition players will play standard DVDs as well as the high definition ones.

The blue ray format is just that, another DVD format. You need a special player to play these new DVD's. They hold 25 GB of information compared to 4.7 GB on regular DVD.

a blu ray disc (patented by Sony) is essentially a high definition DVD to be played on a blu-ray player and it can hold many times more information than a conventional DVD. It will compete with HI-def(inition) DVD's soon.
