Stick with paper and glass. Several types of plastics release their toxic elements under excessive microwaving. Even 'microwavable' plastic may breakdown after repeated use. Plastic wraps are also on th suspect list. Cover the food with a paper towel. B.

Yea it depends on the type of plastic... Most likely the plastic that you are microwaving should say on the box or the bottom of the container that it is microwavable or not. Also some plastic can be harmful to you if you inhale or eat out of it, after you microwave it.

Certain plastic are microwavable, I've had them melt on me before, and it's a icky mess! Most of the time the really hard plastic ones do alright. Just be careful, I'd avoid using plastic at all if possible.

The best items to use in your micro is glass but you can also use plastic that was made to use in micro, just ordinary plastic containers are not safe, they tend to loose there shape, catch fire and melt. The stuff used to make these then ends up in your food which is not healthy for you. I just found this out myself, also your bottled water is like the plastic i am talking about, you connot clean them from germs due to their texture content, the plastic breaks down and becomes very thin, never reuse your bottle more then once and anything that you can't use boiling hot water in is not able to clean for bacteria. Always use items that you can use cleaners on or items that were reckcommened for micro or oven. Containers are great for the frig but transfer the food into another container before you cook it or warm it up.

Plastic is microwavable, at least most are.
If there is a code on the plastic, look for HDPE (high density).
Microwaves work by vibrating polar bonds (boiling water). Plastics don't have polar bonds, but low density plastics will be affected by heat.

Only if it states so on the container. The food can absorb some of the carcinogens when heated that way.
