Today in Australia we are commemorating the 40th anniversary of the battle of Long Tan,, August 18 1966,, in which 120 Aussie soldiers fought 2500 Viet Cong in a rubber plantation,, the Aussies fought the enemy for over 4 hours and sustained 18 dead ,, it is estimated that the Viet cong sustained over 1000 dead, (estimates) I believe this battle has been largely overlooked in the annuls of Australia's military history,,
