It could be a swollen lymph node or a cyst of some sort. I am not sure....she has been fighting a cold for about a week or so. It hurts her to bend her neck, (putting her ear to her shoulder). About three weeks ago she was throwing up, I thought it was the 24hr bug. She has a history of not haveing a sore throat and haveing strep throat before. She has been coughing, and she says when she coughs her throat hurts only then. I think I am going to bring her to the dr.'s tomorrow. What do you all think??

with her history, she probably has chronically swollen glands. If she has an infection or is ill, they are going to be sore and swell more. I know this from my own experience as im very prone to strep and other throat infections. There's also another possibility, may sound strange, but has she hit her head, or had a sore on her head or anywhere in the area on the side that the gland is swollen? Sometimes if you have a sore, they will leak into the glands causing them to swell up and this too is painful. I had that happen to me in the past. Don't worry too much, I'm sure the doc tomorrow will tell you that everything is ok.

Sounds like strep...the swollen lymph node and throwing up are signs..it has been going around and a lot of children are getting it without a sore throat or fever...I actually just got over it but it was resistant to penicillan so I would take her to the doc ASAP. It is very serious!

THE DR. OFFICE WOULD BE A VERY GOOD IDEA. at first i thought of the mumps for that is going around now. but with her being sick for a while that is questionable. please take her in tomorrow.
blessed be,
Elizabeth
