1) Exercising will speed UP your metabolism - not slow it down.
2) Megs says that's way too much to exercise but she doesn't know what you consider exercise. Many athletes train that much daily without problems. Aerobic/Cardio workouts can be done daily, same with exercises that only involve moving your own body weight (situps, push ups, pull ups). You shouldn't lift weights too much unless you're at least in your teens otherwise it could stunt your growth. When lifting weights, you should not work the same muscle groups consecutive days (if you do chest/shoulders/triceps on monday maybe to back and biceps tuesday)
3) Too much high impact exercise can cause stress fractures and joint injuries over time (like are common in gymnasts).
4) Make sure you eat right while training and get all the nutrients your body needs

If you already know exercising too much is bad for you then dont! As they saying goes, keep everything in moderation - be it food, exercising, partying, etc. When everything becomes too much it's bad for you.

For example if you stop exercising all of a sudden you will put weight on. If you are trying to lose weight (like I am) then by all means go to the gym everyday if you like, but I think max 1hour and a half is all it should be. Try mixing cardio, weights and doing your abs as well.

Eat a well balanced diet, 3 meals and 2 snacks - never miss breakfast. If you do, you will end up eating more later.

When you start exercising and eating healthily then your metabolism does increasing. You can drink grapefruit juice too which natural increases metabolism.

Going hungry slows down the metabolism thats why breakfast is important - it kick starts your system. Good luck.

I'm no expert, but I don't think it would slow down your metabolism. When you exercise, you burn energy, and your metabolism increases to compensate for it and provide you with more. Too much exercising is bad because you could push your body beyond its limits. It can only handle so much stress and activity at a time. 3 hours a day isn't necessarily too much, it depends on what you're doing for those 3 hours and if you're properly hydrated and nourished while you're doing it.

that's way to much excercise, if you need to excercise everyday you should only go for about a half hout to 45 min but try to stick with every other day, and don't do 3 hours at a time!
