We Are Atheists Because...

* There is no proof of the existence of god.
* There is no need of, or use for, a god.
* A good god would be useless if it were not powerful.
* A powerful god would not deserve worship if he were not good.
* There is no all-powerful good god; otherwise there would be no imperfection.
* If this is the best world god can make, the stories of Heaven must be lies.
* History shows that godism is accompanied by ignorance and superstition.
* There has never been such intolerance and persecution as godists have practiced.
* Godism had to be fought when humankind made its successive steps toward science, liberty, and reform.
* Godism was invented in the earliest days of mankind's ignorance. It is incredible that primitive humans guessed wrongly about everything else, but discovered the truth about the origin of life. Everything about which science has discovered the origin was claimed previously to have been the work of a god. Godism recedes when a new fact is discovered. No new discovery ever supports a theistic explanation of anything.
* All revelation proves, on investigation, to be human, and generally fraudulent.
* Godism is consistent with crime, cruelty, envy, hatred, malice, and uncharitableness.

Atheism Teaches That...

* There is no heavenly father.
Humankind must protect the orphans and foundlings, or they will not be protected.

* There is no god to answer prayer.
Man must hear and help man.

* There is no hell.
We have no vindictive god or devil to fear or imitate.

* There is no atonement or salvation by faith.
We must face the consequences of our acts.

* There is no beneficent or malevolent intent in nature.
Life is a struggle against preventable and unpreventable evils. The cooperation of humankind is the only hope of the world.

* There is no chance after death to "do our bit."
We must do it now or never.

* There is no divine guardian of truth, goodness, beauty, and liberty.
These are attributes of humankind. We must defend them or they will perish from the earth.

I believe there is something, but just not 100% sure exactly what it is. I have faith, and I hope that there is a God. I don't know if there is. I have read that Bible, and the Book of Mormon. I have been to the Catholic church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Methodist Church, Lutheran, and Presbyterian. Now, I would have to say that the only church that I actually respected was the L.D.S. church, and here is why. They don't talk bad about other church affiliations. I have never been to another church where they don't say, "Those Mormons, or those Catholics, etc". If we all read the same Bible, how can there be so many beliefs? Have you ever sat in a circle and played telephone? That, to me is how I perceive the Bible. Now, it has been past down thru the ages and changed. Did God rewrite it everytime? I respect anyone's religion. In fact I appreciate the fact that people absorb it. BUT, I, personally hate the hypocracy that religion brings. Never, have I met a "christian" who isn't a hypocrite. I also know that we are not perfect, but if you are going to spread the gospel then live it, accept it, and be true to it. I don't want someone telling me how to live or what I should believe in and be judged bc of what I do or don't believe. I do not call myself an Atheist. I do believe there is something. If and when, God comes and he asks me to accept him, I sure will. But, I will have to see him to believe him. Thanks for keeping an open mind and letting me share my side.

What if god is only going to put those in to heaven that are brave enough not to believe in him, and everyone else is going to hell? If that's the case then I can ask you the same question:

"How will you feel if Hell becomes your eternal life after death and you never tried to find out but now it's too late? Educate yourself...don't take the chance."

Pascal's wager doesn't work.

Educate yourself, that's a laugh, re legion has always had problems with facts, logic, common sense. Whats more likely, moses parted the red sea, Jesus came back to life. Manna fell from heaven. OR SOME AUTHOR MADE IT UP. Believe what you want don't push it on the rest of us. Just go be Christan because your parents were.

Remember Jesus is magic just like david copperfield.

How will you feel if the God I believe in is the true God and not yours and that you are condemned to eternal life in Hell for believing in the wrong one?

Claiming that the unbelievers are not educated is very arrogant, and I shouldn't even answer to you. But what I can say to you is that the idea of hell being true is just as dumb to me as the idea that Friday comes right after Wednesday. It's not going to happen. There's nothing I should worry about.

I can't wait.

If even 1% of the people who claim to be on their way to heaven actually go there, I would rather be in hell.

And why wouldn't I? I will be able to hang out with Einstein, Plato, Ghandi, Buddha, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, etc, etc.

You can keep you heaven. The real party will be in hell.

thats what people dont understand..for those of us with an alternative faith and are happy with it, life pretending to beleive in something else IS our hell. we may be wrong, but you might be wrong too, for all you know, when you die, you could be at a teaparty hosted by big bird and the grouch, instead of sitting at the pearly gates or roasting in a lake of fire. there is too much pain in life already to deny ourselves the gratification of our faith because of fear of persocution, i personally wouldnt stop practicing my religion for neither love nor money nor blood nor fear, and i pose this qeustion to you, but i dont expect an answer, just think about it: what if when you die, instead of being embraced in the arms of a loving god, or even being ridden to exhaustion in hell, there is nothing..absolute nothingness, even the very space around you is nothingness, what would be going through your mind? faith shouldnt be about fear.
