I am a very trusting person to begin with. I will believe what people tell me. I have been burned pretty bad lately. I was talking to someone I thought I really connected to only to find out it was all lies. You must be VERY careful.

First, remember never to give out personal information such as your name, home address, school name, or telephone number in a chat room or on bulletin boards. Also, never send a picture of yourself to someone you chat with on the computer without your parent's permission.Never write to someone who has made you feel uncomfortable or scared.
Do not meet someone or have them visit you without the permission of your parents.
Tell your parents right away if you read anything on the Internet that makes you feel uncomfortable.
Remember that people online may not be who they say they are. Someone who says that "she" is a "12-year-old girl" could really be an older man.

I think you have to know the source of what information you get whether it's from people or just information. People not matter what it is has to have some credibility. Credibility is what counts and that's how you can tell if you should trust. There's the old says don't believe everything you hear. Check it out before you decide if you are to trust the source.

You cannot trust anybody on here. Typing something on the internet is totally different then meeting the person in real life. It is so much easier to type and lie then be in person and lie. You really do not know people just by typing they can be a rapist, a killer, steal from you, anything. I will not take my chances on meeting a person on line. It might be ok but you never know when it is not going to be.

Dealing with people here Online- is the same as dealing with them everywhere; you have to be carefull. Don't take anything at face value without checking it out, ask lots of questions, listen closely- & follow your instincts. If you're not comfortable with what you're hearing- move on. There's no guarantees that you're not going to get "stuck" anyway...- but then, there are no guarantees in life, period.

There are honest and dishonest people online...just as in real life...the biggest difference is that more dishonest people can pull it off online easier than face-to-face...
Take people at "face" value (so to speak) but if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is...don't put a lot of hope or expectation on someone you don't know...but don't automatically assume everyone is lying to you or not who they say they are...use good judgement and common sense...

A very old parent saying: "Do not trust strangers".
Please apply it here on the net, out there on the streets, everywhere you find yourself. There are no substitutes for caution and common sense.

Not at all unless you been chating with them for a while and given them the benefit of the doubt by slowly learning new things about them. And just go off of your gut instinct and common sense.

Most people online in chat rooms are 35 year old perverts living in their parents basements.
