yes, you can use EOS lenses in Canon's digital SLR's.

There are some EOS lenses, made for Canon digital SLR's that you cannot use in you film EOS cameras.

You have to multiply the focal distance by 1.6 to get you equivalent focal distance in your Rebel XT.

A 28 - 80 mm zoom lens becomes a 44.8 - 128 mm lens. You'll lose your wide angle, but will have a more powerful tele. That's why digital bodies come with a 18 - 55 mm zoom lens.

Yes, the EF lenses will work on the digital body. Just keep the 1.6x crop factor in mind. I've read that the kit lens for the XT is mediocre at best, and after handling one I agree. Look at investing in a nice super wide angle zoom like the 20-35mm.

These lenses should work. Canon lenses normaly work with any Canon SLR whether the camera body is digital or 35mm.
