I believe all you have to do is mix up the batter for the cupcakes and bake them in flat-bottom ice cream cones. When they're cool, you can ice them any way you want. From what I've heard of this method, the cones do not burn and there's nothing special you have to do to get this to work. Give it a shot and let me know how they come out.

Ingredients:
20 ice cream cones (flat bottoms)
1 package cake mix (any flavor)
frosting
sprinkles
Stand the ice cream cones in a muffin tin (may need to wrap tin foil around the bottom so they stay standing). Mix cake mix according to package directions. Fill cone about 3/4 full. Bake according to package directions. When cool frost with plenty of frosting so it mounds like an ice cream cone and decorate with sprinkles if desired.

Same way you make any other cupcake.
Just use cones instead of paper cupcake cups.
Use the directions on the box for cupcakes.
Fill each cone about 2/3 full

Yes...you can go to the grocery store and some "ice cream cone" boxes have the recipes on them...
You make the cup cakes as normal, make sure to use the cup cake paper cups in the cup cake baking dish...before you put the cup cakes in the oven you place the ice cream cones on the uncooked cup cakes. Cook them as normal, when they are done take them out let them cool and frost with your favorite frosting. It is actually a fun thing to do with kids (if you have them).

Another good idea of cones, dip top of cone (1-2 inches) in melted chocolate. Pour a few spoonfuls into the bottom of the cone and let dry. Fill with cut fruit.
