Please go to al-anon. There are meetings everywhere and you will get to know people in your same situation. I went when I was married to an alcoholic and it really helped. I learned that I could not change him. I could only change the way I reacted to him. Unfortunately the marriage failed but the meetings were worth it to learn that I could not control his drinking, i could not cure it and I did not cause it. You will be nervous the first time going in but they are so welcoming you will feel at ease soon.

Realize that you can only control yourself and that he's probably not going to change. The only behavior you can control is your own. You may have to decide whether the pleasure of the love is worth the pain of the drinking.

he's not going to stop drinking unless "he" wants to. You cannot make him do it. If he is abusive...get out. He'll never change.
