Why is it that Biblical literalists need absolutely everything about evolution to be a proven fact before they can accept it, yet it doesn’t go the same way with their Bible? One bit of evidence from one book of their Bible proves the entire thing true for them! Why don’t they need every sentence written in their Bible to be proven true like every step in evolution? They don't need theory of gravity spelled out for them either, and they're not floating off the earth.
“Faith” is not an appropriate answer to this question because it is not an appropriate answer in support of evolution.
I am so sick of Biblical literalists asking for evolution to be proved to them, when they first of all won’t take the time to learn for themselves. Also, if they weren’t so eager to keep evolution out of the science classroom, then they would know these answers. Why do they ask these questions, but they don’t want to learn the answers?

I'd like to point out that evolution does not claim that humans evolved from monkeys or apes. If you paid attention in your science class, you would have learned that humans and other primates shared a common ancestor a very, very long time ago.

Because it is two different realities. Like trying to replace an apple with an orange in a recipe.
A logical explanation of evolution will never work with a Biblical Literalist because the whole point to literal faith is to not use logic, only belief. You can't prove a belief wrong because it has no basis in logic, so it doesn't matter how much evidence you present, you are using the wrong tool for the job.
In order to get them to believe in evolution, they would first have to stop believing at least some part of the Bible. In order to get them to do that, you have to break an emotional attachment to an unsubstantiated feeling. It's like 'curing' an alcoholic. You never really cure them, you only get them to stop performing self-destructive acts, but they will always have that craving.
Best to work with the ones you can work with. Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Sounds like you're a non believer. I believe, but I do not have anything against non believers. I don't know. I'm the type of believer that also take science to the heart too. Here's one other thing that some of the non believers think, they tend to believe that someday science is going to prove that God don't exist. But that's really like being a one track mind. Being open mind about many things helps you accept some of the things that are going on inside and outside of you. If science can totally prove that evolution really , really exists then that's good. What I see is this, evolution must have been started or planned by something greater than ourselves. If you think I'm trying to convert you, I would say no. but here's another really interesting story I think you should check into. It's about quantum physics. Scientist are having a hard time understanding particles at the atomic level doing things that are seemingly mysterious. According to current physicists, they actually see that there is intelligence involved in this tiny particles and things seem to work exactly as if someone had been programming this particles to do exactly what they're suppose to do. They couldn't, for one thing creat some kind of simulations that would show that particles just magically show up from nowhere. But they can manipulate these particle in such a way that they can study them. you should read or watch movies on quantum physics, you'll see what I mean. Just to realized what Quantum Physicists had done only strengthen my belief in a true creator of the universe. I do not read the bible as much, but I do believe that there is a true creator who do answer prayers. I do realized that most christians also do have a one track mind, too. That's too bad.

literalists run two things together , evolution is a fact, no doubt of it. A clear and totally evolutionary path of how man evolved isn't. Evolution can take place very quickly in smaller animals, there was a white moth in England that with pollution evolved into a black moth and now pollution is decreasing it is evolving back. DNA testing shows us Darwin's observations on the Galapagos Islands were correct. Evolution is proved it is not a theory, mans evolutionary path needs more work on it for total knowledge but its pretty clear.
Darwin's book voyage of the Beagle is very accessible and very logical read it its worth the effort.
It is interesting that only fundamentalist Muslim countries where the concept of evolution isn’t the origin of mankind wouldn’t be met with laughter. When did Christianity lose its logic and understanding of science? (post Galileo)
God's wisdom!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God doesn't think it is wise to believe something literally when it was meant figuratively.
Do all those who believe that the bible is the literal word of god know the current books we have were a vote by a number of bishops and the choices were not unanimous ? in short men chose what god's word was not god.

Simply because they cannot accept logic and facts. To do so would show the literalist to be what they are-completely devoid of rationality, bordering on insanity.
My great-great-great, ect. grandfather once managed to write his own little bit in a section of the bible. He left a note, to be passed up, through the generations, until it came into my posession. It stated that what he had written, was simply his form of a joke and was, by his own admittance, fiction.
I'd like to see the literalists prove me wrong, as it's "in the bible" so must be true...
:)
"Quantum physics points to creation[by God, I assume]"....HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I take it the author of this quote has never actually READ about Quantom THEORY? (that's hearsay for ya...guaranteed to make one look a fool to those who know...) LMAO!

I used to be a science guru. Honor student in mathematics and science. When I asked myself some very simple questions, it became very clear to me that evolution is scientifically impossible. There is absolutely no possible way for simple life to evolve into complex life. The individual components in any complex life form requires the presence and correct operation of other components. For a simple life form to change into a complex life form, it must first have a complete blueprint of the complex life form and evolve into it in one single change. If it doesn't, to make this simple, you'd have a heart with no blood or veins or lungs. You might have a brain with no heart or blood to oxygenate it. You may even have blood with no heart to move it or lungs or veins.
Aside from that, how did the first living cells know how to reproduce or even know they had to reproduce?
There are several people who are offering large sums of money for proof of evolution and they make it well known. Not one person has taken them up on it yet. Perhaps evolution is nothing more than a way of crushing faith. A weapon devised for this purpose without any real facts.

Because it is not an equal playing field. Believers will debate, critique and ignore anything that conflicts with their beliefs? Myself, I try to remain open minded and look at each question, theory or supposed truth from a realistic angle. Many people believers and non believers alike have blinders on and when a good point is brought up they only hear Blah Blah Blah.

First, the "theory of Evolution" is taught as fact in all of our schools. There is no option in most states. THEORY OF EVOLUTION!!! When being force fed this "theory fact" we are told that all of the evidence is there to support it, just as it is taught that the theory was formed by Darwin. I just ask to see all of the "evidence" available before I can make the decision. So far, I have not seen much in the way of evidence. In fact, the recent studies in Quantum Physics point more to creation. I know, crazy right? We all know the world is flat!

easily, Biblical illiteracy is growing to be greater atheists than Christians would desire to or might ever do. The Bible speaks of the two non secular and literal issues so literal information of particular texts in mandatory specially places. Human reason, until eventually aided via the Holy Spirit, is incapable of information the Bible. there's a great Reasoning presented interior the Bible and humility is critical as a usual step in the direction of comprehending the meaning of what's interior the verses. it rather is a paradox via fact the sinful human innovations isn't humble or keen to renowned its inferiority until eventually a softened heart prepares the way for exchange.

I'm christian, and i "believe" in evolution and the big bang. I believe that they are the products or tools in which god created the physical universe w/ law and also the tool for life> no where in the bible does it state that the earth is 6000 years old or that we didn't evolve. A "day" to god is like a million or billions years to us>

I don't know, honestly. I don't know why people regard the Darwin theory as fact, it's never really been proven and I doubt it shall be, along side with creation. We believe that this is true, but no one can really prove either.
I believe in creation because it's what the bible says, and I really don't believe in evolution.
