What to Expect the First Year is a good book.

All though books are good, they don't always *really* prepare you for the real thing. I would find a good discussion board on line where you can talk to other Moms and get their experiences.
I have two kids and let me tell you I don't think a book could of prepared me for the real thing.

Some great books are the What to Expect series and another is The First 2 Years by Focus on the Family. Newborns are interesting little critters... you never know what to expect. Listen to your instincts though, you know more than you think you do!

A book that may help you a little would be What to Expect the First Year. You also should receive a lot of info with good advice from your health care facility and the place you deliver.
Best of luck to you

You know your baby better than anyone else and there's no book that can tell you what you should or shouldn't be doing. Go with your gut and with your heart. It will always lead you in the right direction. Be protective of your child but not overbearing. Just remember what your mom did right (or wrong) and learn from that.

first time mom will be a bg experience for you. no books will match.
you'll get everything automatically, just like a miracle!!!
and the baby will also automatically know how to suck and drink milk. nobody can teach her right?
but make sure you breast feed your baby as long as you can. thats the advice i can give you. no substitute for breast milk.
anyway if you want to know anything about these matters
www.babycenter.com has all the info ur looking for.....

Sorry, chocolatelover, motherhood doesn't come with spot-on instincts.
I'd recommend this site: http://www.babycenter.com/
Good luck! It's a challenge, but they do grow up!
