It's a tricky question. There are advantages to having them here. As Bush puts it, "They are doing jobs that Americans don't want to." This was the case in early America when immigrants came to America, mostly Irish. They contributed to the economic advancement of the country during the early and late 1800's. Historically, we know that low cost workers offers ecconomic benefits and today's immigrants offers those economic benefits, as well.

A seperate issue is the legalization. There has been a lot of talk about too many illegal immigrants in America and we should do something to stop them. I am all for stopping ILLEGAL immigrants, not immigration (see above for benefits). The arguement against legalization is that it'll just attract further illegal immigration. They have a point in this argument.

Another proposed rule is temporary workers card. This will not solve anything, because what happens when the cards expire? These temporary workers will become permanent illegal immigrants again.

The real solution for reducing illegal activity is through active registration and enforcement. The system is set up so that illegal immigrants can obtain driver's license doesn't make sense.

We should be in favor of immigration. Our great country has been built on immigration. Everyone in the Unitied States came from somewhere else, so immigration isn't the problem. It is the ILLEGAL immigration that's the issue.

THOSE OVERSEAS THAT ARE IN THE REAL SHADOWS DESPITE THEIR CASES HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR YEARS SHOULD BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENTER THE US BEFORE LEGALIZING THOSE THAT DID NOT CHOOSE TO JOIN THE LEGAL APPLICANTS LINE UP FOR IMMIGRATING.

WE WILL NEVER SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IF WE ENCOURAGE THE ONES THAT VIOLATE THE LAW BY REWARDING THEM FOR NOT JOINING THE PROPER CHANNELS FOR ENTERING THIS COUNTRY.

LEGALIZING 'ILLEGAL' WOULD BE A WAY TO CONVINCE LEGAL APPLICANTS THAT THEY HAVE DONE SOME DUMB THINKING IN THE FIRST PLACE.

HOW DO YOU REACT TO THAT ??????

solution: legal applicant first
illegal immigrant (seniority) second
temporary worker ( seniority)
the rest ( send home and should be given opportunity to
apply legally under a special status ( applicant and
beneficiary )

A lot of tax that is lost under the table would now be paid to your government.

Keeping in mind immigrants are hardworking.

If people aren't comfortable with "illegal" immigrants why not just make them "legal immigrants" then everybody wont have any problem.

Ridiculous! Everyone shall live wherever they want...absurd! Countries are countries for a reason...way of life. That's exactly why trying to force a "melting pot" is insane. You can't put people who love to cut off people's heads in the same community as people who want to go to work and raise a family. People of fundamentally different beliefs can not sustain and will not ,as you will see in the future. This will come to violence in the next 30 years. If Mexicans do not like Mexico, have a revolution (hmmm..just as we did here?). It all comes down to doing the work and growing the balls. They do not want to do the work. If you don't like your country ...fix it! Don't come here and try to make my country like the sh..hole you just left! Obviously what you were doing in Mexico didn't work! You are welcome here, just with a lot of screening and willingness to change. Become an American!....divisiveness does not a strong country build. If a whole bunch of cultures isolate in America then we do not have America (U.S. to be clear). For example, when picking teams in a pick-up football game we are not going to pick the worst players first. We are looking to improve this country and make it the best it can be. Sorry, we're not looking to take your murderers and thieves and lazy azz's. Wake up America...Illegal Immigrants....the biggest trojan horse of the century!

Lets see they are already here, and if they are making a contribution to the community they are in then why not. They could be better then some of the immigrants that got here the legal way.

If we have to do that for all than we may as well take over Mexico. Amnesty really doesn't matter if there aren't any jobs. I have heard they would like to have New Orleans. That would be interesting in about 5 to 10 years when it's all under water. Won't Mexico too? We do need more Prisons now. Do you think that building them is something that Americans would like to do?

its not legalisation that matters but the question of y illegal immigrants are here. Not until poverty, wars, and corruption of governments in the developing world is erradicated, there will still be inflow of illegal immigrants.

People have a right to a legal status... they need to be processed for what they are. If they are fleeing poverty, many of them should count as refugees. If they are committing crimes, then we should be trying to catch them. The fact is that there are real problems in Mexico that they're running from, and the best way to take care of all the Mexicans coming into the U.S. is to start a gradual return program... start some job programs in Mexico and send the ones who came to the U.S. to send money back to their families back to live with their families with a job waiting for them. The "deport them all" answer doesn't work, because no country can be expected to take in millions of people at once without a major economic problem... and they'll just start to come back. "Deport them all and shoot anyone who tries to come back" is simply inhumane... it will cause so much suffering in Mexico that they will come to the border to be shot. It would be grotesque.

It's been done once already, and that was too much, if they do it again they might as well just let everyone in, terrorists, criminals, the works. Because that's what they'd be doing.

The country is already overloaded with people who do nothing to support the economy.
