How do you ladies/gents do it? My hubby has been gone for amost 7 months and we have 2.5 more months to go.

He joined right about a year ago and seems to have been gone since boot camp.

I'm happy that it wont be long (comparitively) until he is home, but he is on a destroyer and i'm told that that type of boat goes out ALL THE TIME.

Can anyone give me advice?

You will make it the heard part is done, he is coming home soon. When they get back to there home port they will go on stand down. You will have time for each other, it will be like a job now. He can take leave for 30 days if he want to. Just remember he is doing some thing that he wanted. I was in the NAVY for 24 years, loved every day. Now that he made his first crews it will not be as bad went he goes out to sea. His ship should be in its home port for 1 year or more, before they have to go over seas again. Just hang in there, the heard part is over, take my word on that, things will get better you will see. Take care.

I'm not a Navy spouse, but an Army one. All you can do is try to make a lot of friends to spend your time with, try to hang out with other Navy spouses, they can relate and will be full of good advice. I know it really sucks. And I hate to say this, but you will get used to it. A lady I know had to say goodbye to her husband this year for the 6th time in 7 years, each deployment lasting a year. She said the first two times she was really freaked out and sad, but now she and the kids are so used to him being gone they don't even cry anymore when he leaves. I think that's sad, but it does go to show that once that is part of your life you get used to it. Good Luck to you!

P.S.- My friend joined a yahoo group for military spouses, she's made some great friends and they visit each other and it's really helped her to pass the time while her husband is gone.

My husband was in boot camp and than sub school for about a year and a half. He lived a good distance away from each other. It was difficult , but it really prepared me for his time out at sea. He is only going to be gone about a month and a half. I am lonely, but I am surviving.
