You are old enough to stay alone. Make sure you have emergency numbers and numbers where your parents can be reached if needed. Lock all doors and don't tell anyone you are alone. Too many freaks in the world.

I would say a 15 and 16 should be able to be left alone as long as there are people they can call in case of emergency. My parents went to Hawaii for a week when I was 15.

What state do you live in?
I used to baby-sit at 14 years old. I don't think there's a legal problem, but you can look it up online based on the state you live in. Just be safe and think sensibly, otherwise your parents will never trust you home alone again (not for a long time anyway).

15 and 16 is old enough to be alone, however if either one of you don't feel comfortable about it, you should let your parents know. Why would they punish you about it? Or are you talking about the law? Legally you're fine.

Leaving your children alone is only actionable if they are below the age of 12 or mentally incompetent.

You should know that it's a lot of trust your parents would be placing in you to behave while they are gone. Don't ruin it by having parties or sleep-overs. The more they can trust you now, the easier they will trust you in the future.

I think you are old enough. I went to college with a girl who was 16. She lived in a dorm on her own. I think you are almost old enough to be able to live on your own without the government caring too much. She shouldn't worry!

Nothing illegal about it. If you and your sis are worried about being home alone overnight, maybe you could arrange to stay with relatives or friends.

If you two are responsible enough to be left alone....I think its okay. Just make sure and lock EVERYTHING up! (Windows & Doors)
