I understand we all want someone to luv but people are really getting desperate to the point they just dont care who anymore and at what age..(people as young as 6 yrs old feel they need to have a bf/gf)..and feel there is nothing more than a getting a gf or a bf..is this detrimental to society?

Because society has pushed the idea that if you're not coupled, there is something wrong with you. I think it started with the ark, 2 of everything......Kids should learn to like themselves and be with themselves and accepting of who they are as individuals before they try and be something to someone else while being in a couple.

Its a combination of pop culture and regular culture.

TV shows and movies place an disproportionate importance at romance (and romance at young ages)

But we must also remember that romance at young ages used to be commonplace. In caveman days, as many humans were needed as possible so people found "love" at the earlist age possible. Evolution has yet to catch up to the later ages now sanctioned by society.

well, the line of "afraid of being alone for the rest of your life" is getting scary, because of the divorce rate in this country. People just don't want to be alone.
