School is not necessary. Become a server at a place that sells a lot of alcohol. Then just ask the bartenders and other servers as much as you can. You will learn better that way. Don't waste your money at bartending school.

My advice would be to go get a job as at a bar and grill. So you can start out as a server(waitress), full or part-time and meanwhile you can ask the bartenders how to make drinks, on slow nights some bartenders are cool enough to let you practice. This way you canbe a server just as a way to get into the door and have an income while you are learning how to bartend. After a few months you will know most of the drinks and you would get the bartending position b4 someone walkin in off the street because the managers know you, and you trained there, so they know you know ur stuff. You actually don't need a bartending license as long as ur working 4 someone or a corp with a liquor lisence
I have asked a few other bartenders and boss what they thought about bartending school. They all said the same that, for the most part it's a waste of money and what u can learn in bartending school you can learn while working behind a bar in no time and for free.

I'm a bartender now but when i started i did a 2 year apprenticeship
under another bartender he did the same thing and so did the bartender that trained him. (we never hired anyone who went to school for it because schools don't teach all that is needed to be a good bartender.)

I'm not really sure how much and how long but in the Philippines, there is a course its an Associate in Hotel and Restaurant mgmt. they teach you about bartending and they also let do actually tasting or familiarizing with wines and spirits then they teach you how to do exhibitions etc. its really cool. I took up bachelor's degree so it wasn't just bartending I've learned but other things as well.

If you want to take a class it's usually a week long. I'm not sure if they have one night classes. But bartending is EASY! You don't have to have experience, just know someone in the biz who can get you in. Otherwise the classes are a good way to get some gigs, they have placement, but it's not always that good.

And just so you know you only have to be 18 to serve alcohol, 21 to drink it.

Yougo to a bartending school,... It caost a an amount,... It"s for a short period of time , very short a matter of weeks,.. Then I don"t know if you get tested ,... but you get your Bartending liscence right after you know? However most places (or schools) are on job training so You become 1 on the spot, like when you workl for a Grocery store

I worked behinf the bar for years without a permit....but not for the last 20 yrs, so things may have changed.
Best way to learn, ask a bartender you know if you can help behind the bar for free to learn.

they do have schooling bartender classes, same as going to college, or if you can find a bar that will give you an internship and teach on the job, but good luck with that.

you go a few times and then are tested on how to make the drinks... you have to get a bartenders permit and I'm not sure how much it costs.. I'm sure it varies from state to state.
