I'm going to play nice. Being that I'm someone of 'ethnic variety'.

It really depends. Those of us with variety, if we're new to the country, do not have to worry about paying taxes for the first few years -- so the items are normally less expensive in that case.

Otherwise, if they're not newcomers to the USA, they face the same problems that all small business owners face. The high cost of not being a mass supplier. Unlike Walmart, Target, Zales, etc they are not a huge retailer and therefore are buying smaller quantities of products. The large the quantity you purchase the more of a discount you receive and that in turn leads to lower product prices. In addition, let's just say you're being really obnoxious and that you're referring to 7-11's and other small quick stop stores -- these are franchises -- so now the people of ethnic variety not only have to cover the cost of the products, but also franchising costs allowing them to use the business name etc and so on. This will effect the cost of products as well.

But in general, the best response to your question is that you've TRIED to be politically correct in your question by using the term 'ethnic variety' but really you're still a moron.

-someone of the 'ethnic variety' who owns a holiday store.

Maybe its an American ( USA thing ) as I have never experienced that in CANADA! but maybe its due to the racist stereotyped variety who sell them the merchandise for more than others and it reflects in their price . Or maybe its those who stereotype that they are renting from who charge more for their monthly rent they have to raise cost of products to stay even .....
