I got him some multivitamins and told him to increase the amount of water that he drinks, but so far nothing has helped. What should he do?

Don't forcefeed your kid vitamins and water--there's nothing wrong with him. Everyone gets foot cramps (seriously, point your toes really far or scrunch your toes alot and your foot will cramp too). There's nothing wrong with your son, he's fine.

LOL... not really lol, but I just asked the same question about my 7 yr old (in the parenting section).. Have you tried teaching him to pull his toes back towards his body? This helps, a lot, if you can teach him to do it (I am trying to teach this to my son) Is he drinking plenty of water? Dehydration can cause major charlie horses. After my son has bad charlie horses I give him ibuprofen to keep the muscle from being as sore the following day. You can try other foods high in potassium (besides bananas).

lack of potassium. My two year old daughter used to get spasms during the night in her legs...she would wake up three- four times a night screaming...fed her bananas and it stopped. It scared the hell out of me at first. I thought maybe she got bit by a spider or something. Doc said that it sounded like she was cramping...or charlie horses and to give her bananas

This all just depends on where the cramps are originating from. You may consider taking him to a foot clinic to get it checked out.

keep up with the vitamins and water, but he could simply have some tight/short muscles in his legs. there are muscles that run from your leg into your foot.. a lot of them! is he very active on his feet? this can contribute to a problem. try massaging his legs and feet. if you want more info on specific techniques, send me a message at meghankopp63@yahoo.com

Muscles can spasm when someone isn't getting enough potassium. A banana a day might help.
