I want to baptize my infant daughter into the christian religion, but I don't know where to start. How do I get started making the plans for it? Where will it be done? This is my first child and I just want everything perfect. If you can help please answer back. Thank You.

True Christian baptism isn't for infants.

Baptism comes in several forms depending on which Church or denomination you attend or profess to. The Baptist believe in Child or infant dedication where the parents bring the child before the church and promise before the church and God that they will bring that child up in Christian principals and to a Christian Life but they do not perform baptism on infants but only when a person makes a decision for themselves, which an infant cannot do. Methodist and Catholics as well as other denominations do baptize infants by sprinkling the infant with water that has been prayed over or certified as Holy Water. Other denominations believe that the only baptism is immersion (dunking) which naturally would traumatize your child and I know that is not your choice. My suggestion is check with a local Methodist, Catholic or Episcopalian minister.

Well, it all depends really.

Most protestants do not do "Infant" Baptisims.. they do dedications.

Catholics, Lutheran and a few others do infant baptisims.. The one lutheran church I attended would not do them unless you were part of their church.

I would call around until you find what you are looking for and start from there. Usually it's just a service and there ya go. Sometimes they let you pick a verse to be read before the baptisim.

Good bless and good Luck! (and of course Congrats!)

Go to the denomination of your choice. Be careful, some faiths do not believe in infant baptism.

I know of 3 at the moment that do perform infant baptism:

1. Catholic
2. Presbyterian
3. Lutheran

God Bless your bundle of Joy.

A child is usually baptised into the christian faith because one of the parents is of the faith. You need to contact your local parish. Find out which one services the area in which you live. Call the parish office and make an appointment with the pastor. He is the best one to answer your questions.

You may wish to baptize her Catholic, but you cannot baptize someone Christian. To be saved, someone must repent of their sin and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as the pay-er of their sin penalty. Your infant daughter cannot make that decision. And I don't recommend the Catholic faith for the best understanding of Christianity.

What Christian Denomination do you belong to? Talk to the minister.

You can Baptize your child yourself. In an emergency the Catholic Church teaches that any Christian can perform the ritual. Use water and recite the Trinitarian Formula: "I Baptize thee (name of child/person if known) in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit."

there are many things to consider when dealing with a situation like this.
first of all, why do YOU want to have your baby baptized? do you know what baptism is?
when you don't know where to start, or where it will be done, it leads me to believe that you yourself are not a regular church-goer. if you aren't, what is leading you to this decision? i'd love to help you but there are questions that you need to ask yourself before you start making religious choices for a child who has no say in this decision you're making for her.
feel free to email me with your questions.

Start looking for a local church that you really like and if you need help if you tell me what state and city your in I can probably suggest some pretty coo baptist churches for you. Just pray and ask God to help you find the one he desires for your life and it shall to come to pass you have to look for the church and listen to God basically.
